Yelland & Papps

Yelland & Papps are for wine lovers and enthusiasts looking for individual, elegant and distinctive wines made in small quantities. Those wanting a connection with a small family winery that are passionate about what they do and hands on with all aspects, practicing old world techniques in a new world way and continually pushing boundaries but respecting the traditions of the famous Barossa Valley. Yelland & Papps is a 1st generation husband and wife team starting in 2005 in the iconic Barossa Valley, using a minimal intervention approach to create elegant, structured fruit forward wines to enjoy in a social aspect or can cellar gracefully for many years to come. Today Michael and Susan own a small vineyard on the valley floor outside of Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley and have two young children, Peyton and Campbell living amongst their Winery and Tasting Room. They do not feel they fit in a winemaking box and do not adhere to rules of whether they are unconventional or traditional,

A beautiful setting - the background music wasn't needed as it was such a peaceful place. Relaxing at an outdoor table overlooking the beautiful garden & lawn while the various wines were brought for tasting & explanations of how each wine differed from the one before. We loved hearing the history of the property & the more recent history in the making of this small winery. And the wines were very good!

Loved this place for so many reasons! Looking forward to revisiting again in a few years when the vision is complete! We were looked after by Kevin who shared his passion with us and we spent an enjoyable time sampling the delicious wines on offer. Preferring reds we thoroughly enjoyed the Merlot & Shiraz but we were equally delighted with a stunning Chardonnay that stood out to us both! Having made our purchases we returned a second time during our visit to buy a gift for friends as we enjoyed it that much!

We spent some time here and the experience was very good. Having the winemaker Andy on site to provide an insight into the wines was fantastic, and we even got to meet mum Barb. A really family affair. Would strongly recommend a visit, and the wines are worth it.

This winery was on our agenda due to a previous family interaction some years ago. We were not disappointed. The lady who helped us was extremely capable and knowledgeable, and informed us about each wine that we tasted. It helped that these were beautifully crafted wines with local character. She also gave us some insight into the history of the property, and it's previous usage as a hospital, run by the Scholz family from the late 1800's to about 1960.

We visited with three young children on a rainy day. Staff were fantastic and kids were happy sitting on the couches. Was very tempted to try the Grange but didn't want to tease ourselves. Settled on buying quite a few bottles of the father grand instead. We loved the merchandise available and even the bags were impressive. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful!
