Visit the restored renaissance castle Harridslevgaard 3km from Bogense, which offers you an exciting cultural experience. The castle is mentioned back to King Valdemar's cadaster of 1231. The present building is from 1606. Totally 1550 sqm. can be seen of the main building in 3 stories, fx. the great hall, which is Denmark's largest in private possession, and the arched dungeon below the ground floor. Sat in the churchyard for a while then had a look inside the church. Like many churches I've visited in Denmark, it has a ship hanging from the ceiling - two in fact in this church. It's not something we see in the UK but apparently it's a "votive ship", often made and given as a gift to the church by local seamen and ship builders. The font was rough-hewn stone which contrasted dramatically with the opulence if the altar and the pulpit. The church sure at the brow of a hill at the end of the main street. Pop in if you're in Bogense - it's worth it.

Kunstgarden er ikke en flygtig event, men et udstillingssted, galleri og turistmal, der har formaet, med kontinuitet gennem 50 ar, at have abent fra ultimo marts til ultimo december. Siden 1968 har Kunstgarden dannet rammen om kunst af alle genrer. Minimum 50 forskellige kunstnere udstiller billedkunst, malerier, skulptur, keramik, glas, smykker, bronze m.m. Derudover er der altid et stort udvalg indenfor brugskunst og gaveartikler. Efter forudgaende aftale abner vi gerne for gavekøb, selskaber og arrangementer uden for abningstid. Kunstgarden er Danmarks største landgalleri. Udflugtsmalet med skiftende udstillinger. Vi har legeplads til børnene. I Kunstgardens hyggelige cafe, byder vi pa dejlig kakao, kaffe og the med lækker hjemmebag. Her er god plads til 60-70 personer.
