North Battleford is a city in west-central Saskatchewan, Canada. It is directly across the North Saskatchewan River from the Town of Battleford. Together, the two communities are known as "The Battlefords". I went to this museum the first time five or six years ago. I had to go to North Battleford to pick someone up so I thought I would tour the museum again.
There are a few of these outdoor town museums in saskatchewan. This one is one of the better ones I have been to.
The ukranian church and house are very unique foe this type of museum. The thatched roof of the museum ks very unusual for Canada. The barn is also quite impressive.
I would recommend planning to spend 2-3 hours at this museum.
There were a couple families there when I was touring and the kids seemed to enjoy it was well. There are a few animals ponies, donkey, sheep near the barn in some pins.

This review is in response to the more unenthusiastic reviews below. (The positive ones do a good job of underscoring the place's attractions for visitors.) We arrived less than 15 minutes before closing, but managed to attach ourselves to a group that was about to leave--at which point the guide (in period costume) invited us to accompany her as she closed up each building, offering us an abbreviated tour of each structure on the way. Such individual service would be unimaginable at most venues. We came away having learned a bit more about Canadian history and with a great appreciation for the staff. Many thanks!

We love blue mountain. Like the peacefulness and the beauty. It is off the beaten path. In the winter we cross country ski on the fabulous, forested hilly trails. -30 , -5 we still love going. In the summer we camp. All year round we come out to use the biathlon range. We have stayed in all of the cabins. Especially like the one on the hill with the wood burning fireplace, making family memories. We generally drive 4.5 hrs to get here. Well worth it.

Nice place to spend a night or two. We stayed the year before as well. Located on Jackfish Lake with lots of amenities (water, wood, sewer dump, showers, bathrooms, bike rental, boat rental, store, and game area), but still quiet and friendly. We also golfed at the very picturesque Battlefords Golf club located within the park.

I spent a day here learning to ski on snow. I went with my relations who can all ski and snowboard. I undertook the discovery program, which lasted 1.5 hours, and I was lucky as the only other person on the discovery program was a 6 yr old child. This was by far the best value for money offer in my opinion. We spend some time on the bunny hill learning the basics, then once we had mastered those our instuctor (Ed) took us onto the runs (only the green and blue ones) to improve and practice our skills. After 1.5 hours the lesson came to an end and then the day was up to us how to spend it and which runs you wanted to ski. I did 4 runs of green and blue only as I am keen but not mad when learning a new skill or sport, and managed to impress my relations as I did not fall or back out once on any of the runs. Overall a good day.
Pros - friendly staff, easy bunny hill to learn on, 2 chairlifts to get you up to the top of the runs, good runs to learn or improve your skills, good snow conditions and well groomed, nice eating and drinking area. Medical staff on hand if anyone injures themselves on the runs.
Cons- only about 8 runs which I think 2 are black, short runs, can becom crowded at busy times.
Considering that you would have to go to Alberta and BC for better skiing I think that Table Mountain offers good skiing and boarding conditions, a great day out to enjoy yourselves. Makes me want to do more and try the skiing in Europe ( as I live in the UK and this was sky visit to Canada to stay with my relations).

I stopped at the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame for a meeting several years ago. It is a very unique and interesting stop in downtown Town of Battleford. I believe a family has been committed to operating this facility for many years, and have done a great job of preserving and displaying baseball history from Saskatchewan. If you have any interest in baseball, or are just wanting to spend an afternoon or morning learning something knew, this is a good stop, I would recommend.

Excellent food all the time. Very thoughtful servers. Reasonable prices. Add to this a grand view of the river valley. Parking is always available with a short walk to the clubhouse.

Nothing unusual going on here....just another casino. They do have a sealed off smoking area...which is nice for us non usersThanks John for taking the time and providing your comments.
