Altona Miniature Railway is a volunteer hobby club that provides miniature train rides every third Sunday of the month to the young and the young at heart. Rides are provided by our members scaled diesel and steam engines (5" and 7 1/4" gauge) over our 1.2 km length track. We are also available for hire for private events such as birthday parties and other functions like end of year celebrations.

Seven - O - Seven Operations Inc. is a non-profit organisation, established in 1980 dedicated to the restoration and operation of vintage steam and diesel locomotives along with heritage carriages, some which date from the early 1920's. Seven - O - Seven Operations Inc. operates regular excursions to a wide variety of destinations throughout the state and we are also available for charter by groups and organisations for a special day out, with a difference. We are based at the Newport Railway Workshops, which were built in the early 1880's. The workshops are also the birthplace of many of our carriages. These facilities at Newport enable us to keep our heritage fleet of diesels and carriages in running order for your next excursion with us. We always welcome new members as well as new volunteer workers. There are always many tasks that we require assistance to complete. Newport Lakes Reserve is a remnant of native bushland in the middle of Altona. It makes a very pleasant walk, and the lakes are very picturesque. It's a great place for a ramble. It's open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (9:00 pm in daylight saving time). The only practical approach by car is via Lakes Drive, running off Mason St. Parking is available. Visitors are requested not to feed the birds. A Ranger is on duty at all times. By the way, several signs say prominently "No Dogs" and "Watch Out for Snakes." It's a big park, paths can be followed by visitors, but the gate out at the top of the park is hard to find.
