Highline179

Just couldn't do it . So let me explain, I am afraid of heights and when I got there and realized that the bridge did move and ya it was definitely high I bowed out. My friend went and loved the views. My understanding is that is the longest suspension bridge in Austria. It was a great walk in the forest to get there. Yes it is up hill but the path is paved. Someone traveling with us has back and leg issues and was able to do the walk. You also have the opportunity to go to the Ehrenberg castle ruins which have a wonderful 360 view of your surrounding. Mountains and a village below. We could actually hear Bavarian music playing from the town. Again me and my heights there were a few freaky spots for me . I really enjoyed this stop. We did not do the museum that was also there by the parking area in the valley. For hiking lovers they do have a few trails you can take.

Krinnalplift

We are visiting this slope since 10 years only because of the sled slope. 4km downhill around the mountain. There are also slopes for skiing. They are well prepared and a lot of fun. The lift is ok for this purpose. This year though we noticed that the personnel changed at the lift and they are not so nice as the previous seasons. All in all a place where the whole family can enjoy the slopes either by ski or by sled.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Yet another of the eccentric King Ludwig II's magnificently odd architectural creations.

Reviewed By HPH88 - Whangarei, New Zealand

We arranged a trip to Neuschwanstein Castle and stayed a night in Fussen beforehand. Totally stay in Fussen its a beautiful town!
Ensure you book your tickets in advance online, this ensures you get a 30 minute tour of the castle at a set time and you also avoid the lines for same day tickets.
You can take a bus, horse & cart or walk up to the castle, its a tough walk for the unfit but it takes 20 mins tops.
You can wander to a spectacular photo spot on a bridge, however allow time to do this as surprise surprise there are lines! The view however doesn't disappoint.
The tour itself is OK... you have a guide who takes you through a few of Ludwigs rooms but its short and if you travel frequently as we do seen inside one castle, seen them all!

Burgruine Falkenstein

Reviewed By alanfairhurst2 - Manchester, United Kingdom

Falkenstein is a 13th century ruin on a mountaintop that King Ludwig II was proposing to turn into another fairytale castle when death intervened (I have my doubts about Bismark's role). Today it is a delightful tourist spot, a fairly stiff walk up, although all on tarmac road to the bar and restaurant, with the last 200 meters up steps with railings.
Don't forget to admire the designs for the projected castle inside the restaurant.

Cute German village with picturesque pedestrian walkways. Full of souvenir shops, cafes, seasonal dining and cool clothing stores.
During August, it was busy, busy, busy. Enjoyed some escaffe and indulged in homemade apple strudel with ice cream. Clean, safe and charming.
Great spot to mill about leisurely.

The location is what makes this worthwhile as the view is quite amazing but the castle is really a mere broken shell so you don't get any idea of what it's as like in it's heyday.

A nice place for families with young children. For skiing or going down your way with a rodel. The rodelbahn begins near the top of the first sessellift (100m walking).
