We visited this lovely gem today with 3 seniors, 2 parents and 3 small kids. We discovered a place here called Tree Adventures that was amazing! It had a 50 foot tall tree house, wood carvings hidden along the path ways, several discovery and play...MoreThank you for your review. We are a family destination. We have had as new as 4 days old to 97 years young. Come see us again. We wish you many years and shade from your tree! Susan and the Tree Adventure staff.

Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska, was the home of the J. Sterling and Caroline Morton family. The four-room house built in 1855 was renovated over the years into a Victorian-style mansion. The 52-room mansion includes many Morton family Victorian and Empire-era furnishings. Guests may stroll the gardens and trails to view towering trees, many of which were planted by the Morton family. Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and Arboretum encompasses 72 acres of wooded area and gardens, with over 260 species of trees and shrubs.

The birthplace of Arbor Day! Filled with fantastic history, amazing period decor (some of it painstakingly created from originals found behind wall sconces), a quick and informative video, a look into history and yet tied to current times, this stop is memorable! Great preservation inside and out! Our kids enjoyed the history and tour as much as we did. We took our time walking around outside and enjoying the well maintained grounds. It's only a short, scenic, walk if you are staying at the Arbor Lodge!

Built near the banks of the Missouri River in Nebraska city, at one time, this attraction was a National Park. It is been over 10 years since it lost its designation but once you visit this $3.5 million facility, you can see how it obtained its status. Three levels indoors with exhibits and hands-on activities. I visited on a rainy day so did not see the nature trails or the lookout view of the river.

We try to visit this orchard annually in the fall! This place has pick your own apples if you want, a great store that includes a wine tasting station and doughnuts! There is space for kids to run and learn about apples. We had so much fun today!

We were with friends driving through Nebraska City on our way to our New Years Eve destination and had a couple hours to kill so we stopped at this little museum. Admission was just $5.00 and very worth it. Quite interesting to see all the old equipment and tools that were used to build windmills through most of the 1900's. How fortunate that the owners kept everything just as it was, right down to the corner office. I doubt if many of these small early 20th businesses still exist in such pristine original condition.
There were interactive kiosks at the various stages of the manufacturing process to further explain the equipment and how it was used to build the windmills. And the museum guides were more than qualified and happy to answer some of the questions that we had. The one that I visited with had an extensive background in archeology from all over the world. Even though archeology is not the same as historical manufacturing venues of the plains, the museum is lucky to have found such an interesting and educated young man. He knows his business.
Great way to spend an hour or so.

On the last day of a long trip, we had a special treat: massages at the spa at Lied Lodge. Our two masseuses, Tammy and Linda were the best! The massages were delightful.

This place was amazing. I never enjoyed history has a youth, but as I age I fine where we have come from and where we are fascinating!! Putting fires out with buckets? Can you imagine? This was such a good history lesson. Go! Enjoy! And make sure you leave donations!

We took our 10 year old grand daughter who was visiting us from Louisiana for the tour. We found the tour interesting and we can literally walk here from our home. An important piece of NE history and we felt, important to educate our GD about the Underground RR as she has not learned much about it thus far in her history classes. We feel it is important for her to have a "well rounded" perspective of both sides of "the conflict" since my husband will attest (as he states as a "product of LA public schools" he did not always receive an unbiased account of the Civil War, even in the 1970s).

The service is friendly and quick. Store has great ideas for presents for all. The food is amazing. I recommend stopping here to eat and picking up gifts; I drank local beer while my wife shopped. Try the homemade ice cream; it will not disappoint. I stop whenever I am in Nebraska City!

TTM TOYS is an old fashioned toy store with the small town feel that families love to visit when they travel. Take your time to stroll around or visit with the owners about your trip. The latest fun addition to our store is our very own TOY MUSEUM inside the store. See lots of fun displays that let you take a stroll down memory lane as you walk around. The displays will remind you of favorite movies, games, television shows you grew up with, etc. See a timeline and discover when some of today's popular toys first hit the market. Our town has several museums and antique shops so Nebraska City is a fun place to spend the day or weekend. If you just need a little break to get off the interstate, you'll be glad you stopped in.

Fun small town toy store. We stopped in to get our Nebraska Passport stamp and decided to see the museum while we were there. If you like the feeling of nostalgia that comes with seeing old toys from your childhood you will enjoy their display. The owners are very friendly and have a great appreciation for toys and their history.
