Inokashira Onshi Park

Reviewed By C D - North Carolina

I visited in early March hoping to see the Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) in full bloom. I was a few weeks early, but the park still did not disappoint. Large trees, benches and food stands are every. Clean restrooms and the Zoo is also part of the park.
This is a very much used park on the weekends and holidays. You will see families everywhere, having picnics, riding paddle boats (some boats looking like swans) playing and just having fun. It is a popular jogging park and and connects Inokashira to Kichijoji if you want to walk between the two.

Kichijoji

Reviewed By PeccaEats - Singapore

I really liked it - Kichijoji is a very chilled neighborhood with character and things to do. Very livable - the type of neighborhood I would move to if I were to relocate to Tokyo. Conveniently busy with lots of shops near the train station, but once you venture out on one side, there are lovely shops and eateries before you get to a beautiful park with a pond (Inokashira Park). Coincidentally when I was there, there were celebrations for the park's 100th year anniversary. There was a band playing, stalls and activities. Even without that, it is lovely to just walk around or just sit/ lie on a picnic mat while enjoying the sights and sounds.
I didn't visit the zoo or the Ghibli museum.
On the other side of the train station, there is a mix of little shops in a residential-like area - reminds me of the beginning of Nottinghill in London. Plenty of streets and shops to browse around and venture into, and quaint little cafes to sit and take a break at. It was a wonderful change from the busyness of Tokyo.

Inokashira Park Zoo

Reviewed By Greg893 - Tokyo Prefecture, Japan

Took my toddler daughter. Big draw was the petting zoo and also some of the other interesting exhibits like squirrel trail and monkeys.
English on most signage with good facilities for baby care, including diaper changing stations etc.
I didn't realize there were some very small, basic amusement park rides, which really excited her and were at the right level for a young child. Older children likely would not be impressed.
Enough grass area for a picnic or a bit of running around. Small canteens in the park serving the basics or bring a picnic lunch. Also a playground area with swings, slides etc., which help to burn off the last bits of energy before the train ride home.
Enjoyable overall and likely to bring my daughter back again. Many coworkers and friends who saw my Facebook post are interested to bring their kids as well.
"5" rating due to the mix of affordability and nice features for a toddler. Its not a replacement for a full city zoo, but rather an enjoyable place for a daddy daughter day or family outing.

This is a pleasant interlude to visit these markets on a Sunday morning in the little alleys just west of Sun Road and opposite Kichijoji Station. Lots happening in the streets hung with lanterns with stalls and food shops, yakitori sellers, snacks, crafts, knife sharpeners and enthusiastic vegetable sellers.

Kichijoji overall is an awesome place with so many options. You can walk back and forth here for hours and still not see everything. You get food, games, clothings, shops, bars, and more! There is always a new shop popping up every month! They just built a round 1 Game Center which is awesome for bowling and other games! If you have time, have a visit to this area of Kichijoji!
