La Torre del Homenaje es una pieza fundamental del baluarte defensivo del Monforte medieval, uno de los más importantes e inexpugnables. Está calificada como la torre más alta de Galicia por sus 30 metros de altura. Es de planta casi cuadrangular, tiene 13,12 metros de largo por 12,05 metros de ancho. El grosor de alguna de sus paredes es de 3,50 metros. Fue levantada entre los siglos XIII y XIV. En la parte superior se pueden apreciar elementos defensivos como saeteras y troneras. Desde su cima se puede admirar la Comarca de Lemos, marcada por el curso fluvial del Río Cabe, lo que hace que sea una visita obligada

Acabamos de salir de la oficina de turismo de Monforte de Lemos. Hacía años que no nos atendían tan bien en una oficina de turismo. Hemos recibido información precisa para todo lo que queríamos hacer. La tienda de la oficina es espectacular si se desean comprar vinos y aceites (aceites de oliva!) locales. We just exit the tourism office at Monforte de Lemos. It was a long time ago the day we received such good information, absolutely matching our needs. The shop is fantastic if you want to buy local products (wine, and even olive oil locally made - this is a rarity since most of the Spanish olive oil is produced at the south or east of Spain).
