Molalla Train Park

Reviewed By ncdodave - Medford, Oregon

The volunteers at Molalla Train Park have done an awesome job over the years to keep this little known train park a true gem just outside of downtown Molalla. They have open picnic grounds with a covered area, free train rides on miniature steam trains, a small garden railway and more. They are open on Sundays between May and September. The train ride takes about 10 minutes and you can ride the trains as much as you like. There are only a small number of scale buildings but, it is appearant that they are going to have more built.as I saw a volunteer putting the finishing touches on one and another one looked like they were just starting to get it going. Fantastic shady place for a family picnic or small birthday party

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm

Good photo opportunities with tulips and 3 hot air balloons. You can ride on the balloons for a very short while but they don't go anywhere. Lots of fun for the kids such as face painting, pony and hay rides. Many food vendors. Admission is $5/person or $20/car. This weekend, quite a number of tulips have not blossomed yet, but there were enough blossoms to make our trip worthwhile.

My daughter went for her 18th birthday, and had an absolute blast. The owner personally and warmly greeted us upon our arrival, immediately making us feel welcome, and the man she went tandem with (Dave) did a fabulous job explaining everything, putting BOTH of us at ease After the jump, the staff (including the AMAZING photographer - get the whole package, you won't be disappointed!) was so fun and enthusiastic about her accomplishment. So many guide places are so impersonal these days, but this organization is top notch and make you feel like family.

Founded in 1978, Oregon River Experiences offers half day to nine day whitewater rafting and hiking adventures on ten rivers in Oregon and Idaho. We're a family-owned business, and our trips are staffed with friendly, skilled professionals who committed to your safety and enjoyment. Day trips are available on Portland's closest whitewater river. We offer multi-day river rafting tours with both camping and wilderness lodge stays. And our trips feature a wide variety of boat types: oar boats, paddle boats, inflatable kayaks, standup paddle boards, and row-yourself catarafts.

Our family of 4 went on a full-day raft trip on the Clackamas River on June 6, 2017. We have been on a few trips before but this one exceeded all others. We spent the entire day on the river without seeing another raft or other people, so we really felt like it was a unique experience being out in nature on our own. The river was a blend of white water with some calm areas in between. Thrilling ride throughout the day with plenty of action. Met at 9:30am and we were off the river around 2:30pm. Tabah was our river guide and he was excellent at maneuvering each rapid. Jessica was our driver, photographer, and helped set up lunch. She was wonderful as well and they both worked well as a team. It was a great day with medium water flows so water definitely moved quickly as we floated down the river. Would highly recommend ORE as they were professional and exceeded all of our expectations.

Alpacas at Marquam Hill Ranch

Who we are…Alpacas at Marquam Hill Ranch is an 18 acre ranch in Molalla, Oregon. We are directly in between Molalla and Silverton. We have 80+ Huacaya alpacas. We breed our animals for the fineness of their fiber, with a soft handle and good density. Our goal is to create a long term fineness in all animals that mimics the feel of cashmere or better. Presently more than half our herd is under 21 micron. We have white as well as a variety of other colors of alpacas. There are 22 natural colors of alpacas as defined by the Alpaca Registry. Bill is an AOBA Certified Fleece and Performance Judge. His education helps in the purchases and breeding of our alpacas. In the future we will be holding seminars on fleece evaluations, breeding selection, business plan write ups and fiber arts. If there is a topic you’d like to learn about, we’ll find the instructor and create the class. Or you can just stop by and we would be happy to answer your questions. We have a large fleece room dedicated for presentations and a ranch store for a quick pick up gift for yourself or someone special. Our herd consists of eight studs we either fully own or own in partnership. They are Snowmass Trilogy, Ezekial's Challenger of Marquam Hill, Crescent Moon’s Ezekial, Crescent Moon’s Accoyo Elizario, Accoyo America Kodiak, Nirvana of AMHR, Denver of AMHR and Emerald Cloud's Javelin. We love to talk about these amazing animals. Whether it is a question on how to get started, breeding questions, animal husbandry, the investment aspects (Bill is a retired CPA) or anything else that you might be interested in, please feel free to stop by, give us a call or drop us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!

Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, the Marquam Hill Ranch offers a unique opportunity to see champion alpacas up close. Whether you're 3 or 93, this is just plain fun and a wonderful experience. And, if you enjoy taking photos, you won't find friendlier or more more cooperative subjects. The ranch is in beautiful farm country about 25 minutes east of Woodburn, OR. The drive itself is worth the visit but you have additional options in the area. Next store you can do some wine tasting at Alexeli Vineyards and or visit Silver Falls State Park, one of Oregon's most beautiful only about 20 minutes away. If you're into to shopping, go back to Woodburn and explore the largest outlet mall in the state. For Judi and I Marquam Hill Ranch is a "must stop" for our out of town visitors.

This was our 3rd visit to our "local winery" Always enjoy talking to the family members, and of course : Josef himself. The tasting room is fun and relaxed. This winery offers outstanding vintages from Pinot to Riesling at reasonable price points. Their reserve label is "Katara" and you won't be disappointed if you are interested in something more refined. They also offer the best Gewurtztraminer anywhere on the west coast. Don't miss it!

Everyone there was safety-focused, professional, and super-friendly. Our instructors put us at ease and made the experience phenomenal. The location is rural and lovely, with great views of the mountains from the air. Loved the video and photo package. Kudos, and thanks for the memories!
