Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge

Reviewed By Lee5608 - Woodbury, New Jersey

Sunday afternoon my youngest, fiancée and I wanted to go somewhere outdoors. My fiancée, who lived near the area for decades suggested the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and we decided to check it out. You approach it through a wooded development and then turn onto a dirt road you almost think is a dead end into the Pine barrens, but then at the end of the road you see the Wildlife Refuge. We had to park in the additional parking lot area which was not far from the entrance. We entered and paid the low fee and decided to take one of the trails over to the animal area. The trail was nice, well marked and had signs with different facts along the route. The animal area was nice, there were many animals that had been rescued, like foxes, beavers, hawks, rabbits, turtles, snakes and my favorite, owls. After spending some time at the animal area we walked the other half of the trail back to the main building. It was fun, interesting and the price was right for a small adventure into the woods.

Amazing Escape Room

Reviewed By Yumeeemama D

Customer service was AMAZING BEFORE we got to the brick and mortar building. When we got there, there was no one to greet us and people standing around everywhere. They have a sample wall which allows practice for the various locks but multiple samples were broken, or missing pieces.
I only knew about signing in because I heard someone else mention that they already signed in. The associates were great but they were running around trying to do multiple things. There REALLY needs to be a host or hostess for when people come in. We had never been there before so a brief overview of how this works would have been nice.
Once we were in the room, We were with a group who must do these for a living and they just started going when the door opened. They didn't communicate with us until I shared a clue I had found and not them. They were overbearing and didn't even care that we were in the room. Perhaps a brief introduction and an overview from the room master could have prepared ALL of us to work together.
This all said, I think this is a clever game and would like to return as long as no one else is in the room, since this was our experience. I felt bad for my daughter who was so excited to be there and wasn't able to truly participate because the group in there were savages!

LAurel does have a gem in this park.

What an amazing experience! This museum is packed with so much aircraft history. There are replicas of the Wright's Brothers plane as well as The Spirit of St. Louis. Walking amongst the aircrafts are flight simulators as well as trainers for aircraft and space shuttles. There is a memorial library, a uniform section for both men and women, gift shop, an aviation gallery and a restoration shop in back of the building. The building has no air-conditioning but had large fans throughout so it wasn't too uncomfortable.

Took the family there recently and only skimmed the reviews on Tripadvisor and for the most part they were positive so I spent the money and took the fam. It was largely a disappointment, but still a positive experience so I'm giving it 2 stars. What surprised me the most is that after we returned, I was troubled by certain parts of the experience and lo and behold, those were exactly the points made by reviewer after reviewer [those who'd left negative reviews] and these must have all been ignored. That is unforgivable.
Let's start with the good:
1 - The park is clean
2 - The staff were all friendly and generally upbeat
3 - Parking was easy and access to the park was simple
4 - The concept is cool - kids love construction vehicles and this gave them an opportunity unlike any other
5 - I thought the selection of attractions was rather decent.

The cons:
1 - It was a very hot day and there is NO shade anywhere. This is inexcusable especially because it's been pointed out many times already.
2 - The rides operate at a snail's pace. There was a large crowd there but even what appeared like a small line of 15 people could easily take 30 minutes until one got on the ride.
3 - The workers all work at a snail's pace. They literally all moved at half-speed. It was as if they had never heard of the concept of working quickly and efficiently. A simple ride like the ground shuttle which should be 1-2 minutes of loading and unloading can easily take between 5-10 minutes and trust me, safety is not the reason. It's because EVERY SINGLE seat belt has to be manually opened by the operator. That's bush league. Most parks that charge this kind of money have automatic seat belts, not these.
There are many examples of this sort of foot dragging that we experienced.
Let's just say that although we were there 5 hours, we only actually got onto 5 rides and we didn't take a lunch break. At $30 apiece, that's not acceptable.
4 - They make lots of speeches and feature signs about "no place-holding," but they do nothing to enforce it.
5 - They don't allow outside food or drink into the park, but they charge $3.95 for a drink. That's unfair. $2.00 is plenty and still leaves over room for plenty of profit. This felt like they were digging alright - gold-digging - and it didn't feel right. Don't charge $30 a ticket and then rape us for a drink.

As I said earlier, nothing I've written hasn't already been written before. It's all in the negative reviews that were left earlier. If anything, I've been kinder because I included the positive aspects of our visit, but it's hard to say it was a thrilling or great trip.
We will not be returning - the combination of high price, no shade, slow rides, slow service, and expensive snacks, make this a poor choice of venue for a family.

Recently, I was at a restaurant and had a very good IPA. When I looked up the brewery, I found it was close by in Mt. Holly and wanted to stop by. The brewery is in an industrial space. Nice tasting room, flights available, growlers, canned beer, etc. Do not thinkthey have food, but most places let you order in.
Loved the Peach IPA! The Cherry Belgian Tripel was also very good!

We went to Pineland Adventures in Alstion, NJ to visit and tour the cranberry bogs. A very interesting and great spot for an afternoon. We learned about the area from the gentleman who checked us in. He was young and very knowledgeable about the area having been born and raised there. He also gave us a good recommendation for a local diner - the Shamong Diner - in the area with good home cooking, good service and friendly faces. Our tour guide, Rob, fed us with cranberry bars made by his wife before we even got on the mini school bus for our tour. He also was friendly and knowledgeable about the entire area, and we came away with information I`d never known before. I recommend this place and tour whole heartedly. A really great day!

Johnson's Corner Farm

Younger kids will enjoy visiting Johnson's Corner Farm but be prepared to pay for everything you do there. There is an area for the animals, a play area and a market but the prices are very high. Adults accompanying children must also pay to enter. A day visit for a family of four run about $60-$75 or more if you plan to eat there. You can only feed the animals and not pet them which was disappointing for my granddaughter but the animals were cute. There is a tube you drop food down to feed them. We had a nice time but I don't think I would visit again.

Memorial Park

Reviewed By flipperdipper171 - Medford Lakes, New Jersey

This is one of the greatest community sports and recreation facilities I have ever experienced. Tennis courts, athletic fields, baseball diamonds, a gold course and driving range, any sort of athletic venue you can think of. My grandkids play soccer here often, and the main field with it's artificial turf, great lighting and stands make it a great venue not only for participating, but for watching. I myself play tennis here often, and the courts are first rate, well maintained and well lighted for night play. Plenty of parking, a wonderful playground and restroom facilities make this an outstanding venue.
