We were the only ones on the tour so had a personal tour. I believe it was built around 1860. You can actually get close to the exhibits. They are not roped off like most places. It was neat taking the hand mirrors and looking at the painted ceilings. It's neat how they could paint in three dimensions. I learned several new things including how Mitchell was almost the capitol of Michigan. When we went the ballast went out on the lift and the fire department was there. The museum curator called where we were staying and told us we could now get in about a half hour later. If they can't fix the lift it will make it hard for people with physical disabilities to tour.

The museum is a brief history of magic and some the local players. Lots of neat memorabilia from the past which triggered lots of old memories. We spent about 30 minutes looking and reading then headed out for a cup of coffee. It was not on my top ten list, but we enjoyed the memories.

I was dreading this tour. My husband loves to collect stamps, but that isn't that interesting to me either. We started the tour in an outside building behind the post office, and there were some vehicles in it that used to be used to deliver mail and one of which Mike, the tour guide and collector of all of this stuff, rode in during a parade in D.C. The tour was supposed to take an hour, but we were there much longer, probably because it was just the two of us and we stayed interested. There are several rooms of stamps, old post boxes, photos, post office fronts, machines, postal figurines and collectables and much more. He has done an amazing job with this museum just from his passion for his profession. He used to be the post master for the area, and now his daughter is. Don't miss this tour if you are in Marshall.

Much work has gone into building of a walkway along the Kalamazoo River. The elevated walkway has observation points as well as places to stop and picnic.
In season, you may see kayakers.
Watch for waterfoul, especially in the early morning or evening.

Access may require stairs in some areas. You can venture as little or as far (1.6 mile total) as you desire. If you have an extra half hour- give it a try.

Get the kids out and enjoy the world!

Note- Some poison ivy is growing close to the railing. Be cautious to avoid.

Ketchum Park

This park is just beautiful. There is a very large and well maintained playground which is completely fenced in. There is a gazebo for picnics and gatherings as well as nice and new bathroom facilities.
This park also has a few walking paths and a small creek running alongside the playground. Kids just love to play in the water.
Across the bridge - on the other side of the creek is a skate park and a few other things for the bigger crowd.
Our family loves coming here.

Stow-Hasbrouck House

Reviewed By Chipperhigh2 - Okemos, Michigan

The Stow-Hasbrouck House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Built between 1836 and 1844 by Granville and Catherine Stow, natives of New York. Sold in 1861 to Matthew Hasbrouck. Hasbrouck from New York, Hasbrouck descended from the French Huguemots, who sought refuge in North America from religious persecution in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1937 the Huegenot Society of Michigan was organized here. It appears someone is living in the house.
