Malvan (also written as Malwan) pronunciation (help·info) is a town and taluka in Sindhudurg District, the southernmost district of Maharashtra State, India, well known for the historically important Sindhudurg Fort. Malvan taluka consists of villages such as Aangnechi Wadi (Village : Masure ), Achra, Khalchi Devli, Jamdul, Juva, Pankhol, Talasheel and Sarjekot. The main occupation here is fishing with the staple diet of the local people fish curry and rice. The town produces Alphonso mangoes and is also known for sweets such as Malvani Khaja made from gram-besan flour and coated jaggery as well as Malvani Ladoos. Malvani Dashavtar, a drama-play based on mythological stories, is an important cultural element of the area.

This island got created by tsunami in 2005.You can get rides at this place. also you can go for sea tour from this location. based in devbaug town, near malvan. Beautiful view of sea, green hills can be seen from this location.

It's in middle of sea, need to reach by boat. Recommended to go in morning / latest by 3:30pm as boat service may stop after this depending on water level.

honestly nothing great to see if you have been to such fort at Alibaug or other places.
Fort isn't maintained properly. Quite a bit of walking.

Malvan should be visited for scuba .The experience is awesome and available at a very affordable rate. I got a packaged deal for INR 2000 at Dandi beach per head through Anway water sports for Scuba, Para sailing, Banana ride, water scooter , bumpy ride and don,t remember what else !!

One of the cleanest and least crowded Beaches in Malvan. There are beautiful coloured boats anchored on the shore and the white sand makes one wonder that you're actually in Maldives. Splendid views with lots of trees, this beach is full of calmness and tranquility.

no point in stopping there only to enjoy Beaches ....directly reach goa ,,,,and if you wish to enjoy less crowded beach then alibag is way better than vengurla ....easy drive from mumbai and pune ....why travel for 12 -13 hrs to enjoy something less and improper accomodations

12 Kms away from Malvan, in Bilwas is situated on Masure road. An old & huge Temple at the bottom side of Bilwas mountain is a great attraction of tourist. Shri Sateri is residency deity of Bilwas. This Temple with huge sabhamandap built in 12-13th century. This Temple was surrounded with lake water, so it’s called ‘Jalmandir’. But now days, only mud is spread over in the lake.
Legend behind the Temple : In old days, Bilwas was a part of Masure village. A Lake with clean water spread with greenery on its bank. Cattels were come across there to drink water. One day at noon, two buffalos started fighting in lake, suddenly a buffalo struck the anthill present in the lake, & bleeding started from that anthill. When cattle men knew about it, they got surprised & decided to built a Temple on anthill. The lots of tourist & devotees come from Maharashtra & even from Kerala, Karnataka to worship & pray the diety.
