Libertyville is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States and an affluent suburb of Chicago. It is located 5 miles (8 km) west of Lake Michigan on the Des Plaines River. The 2014 census population was 20,512. (There is also a township of the same name, which includes the village and some surrounding areas.) Located in northeastern Illinois, southwest of Waukegan and west of Lake Forest, its immediate neighbors are Mundelein to the west, Green Oaks, Mettawa, and Rondout to the east, Gurnee to the north, Grayslake to the northwest, and Vernon Hills to the south.

Went with a bus group of theatre students to see Newsies at the Marriott Lincolnshire. The production was fast-paced and exciting to watch. The actors are so close and constantly moving around so everyone in the theatre could see them. The singing and dancing were very well done. Scene changes were quick as actors moved set pieces up and down the aisle. Looking forward to attending another production here, as it’s easy to get to and parking is free.

This place rocks I sampled omany of their beers and was quite impressed with all of them. Even though the outside looks like a warehouse the inside is really nice with beer inspired tables and large TVs playing the sports game. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were able to find a seat easily enough. The menu is awesome highlighting their seasonal beers and their mainstays. I also really liked how they highlighted the brewing process on the menu. Not sure if they serve food or not or if you bring your own in. The only thing I could think that they could improve is to put their history on the menu explaining how they got going. I was really impressed and enjoyed my time there I will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area.

Lots of people love Independence Grove, which is most apparent on the weekends when the parking lot is full and there are no picnic sites available. Park is sometimes overrun with bicycles, trikes and strollers making it hard to walk and get around. If you like busy parks and crowds, this is for you. If you like quiet and more natural areas, other Lake County Forest Preserves are much more enjoyable.

If you are into riddles and mind puzzles this is the place.The story line is mind challenging and entertaining. This is no video game. My wife and I did well together and completed 80% of the puzzle. We would have beat the clock if we had more people. Best for two or more couples.

The wildlife discovery center is a hidden gem! It has lizards, snakes, crocodiles, birds of prey and even a bobcat. If you come at the right time, you can watch them train the siamese crocodiles, which is really cool! It is very interactive, more so in the summer when they have space to let the turtles out for kids to touch and they can bring the snakes outside and such. But very awesome all year round!

The park system in Lake County is second to none. Between Independence Grove and Old School in Libertyville - you have two amazing places to walk, ride a bike, relax, ice skate —
All seasons - 12 months of the year, there is something you can do at the preserves.
Well maintained. Excellent facilities.
No matter where you are in Lake County, there is a Forest Preserve within 5 to 10 miles of your home.

PROS: beautiful chapel with amazing artwork inside- stained glass windows, relics, the monstrance- everything is exquisite. Plenty of parking; there were stations of the Cross outside but unfortunately it was a blustery, cold rainy day. It gives my family and I more reason to return. Plenty of items in the gift shop.
CONS: none whatsover.

Today, we marvel as we stroll the hallways and parlors and gardens of Victorian mansions, marble monuments to the Gilded Age. San Simeon, William Randolph Heart's castle in California, is most noteworthy. Two others that immediately come to mind are George Vanderbilt's Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, and Henry Flagler's Whitehall in Palm Beach, Florida. And Marble House in Newport, Rhode Island. Chicagoans can admire a reproduction of Hearst's San Simeon or Charles Foster Kane's fictional "Xanadu" of Citizen Kane fame at the Cuneo Museum and Gardens in north suburban Vernon Hills. Located at 1350 North Milwaukee Avenue, it was built in 1914 for Samuel Insull, an original founder of the General Electric Company. Insull, who once served as Thomas Edison's personal assistant, lost his fortune in the Great Depression and died of a heart attack in 1938 with 84 cents in his pocket. He was identified by a hotel laundry bill in his pocket. In 1937, John Cuneo Sr., the founder of the Cuneo Press and Hawthorn Mellody Dairy, purchased the mansion. It remained the family home until the death of Cuneo's widow in 1990. In 2009, the house was donated to Loyola University of Chicago. The Mediterranean style mansion, noted for its opulent Venetian style architecture, features a 40-foot high great central hall with arcaded balconies, a grand staircase, lavish double formal dining rooms and a private chapel with exquisite stained glass windows and wonderful frescoed ceilings. The mansion's antique furnishings, Renaissance paintings, 17th century tapestries, silver and porcelain collections are the result of the Cuneo family's lifelong collecting. The grounds were designed by renowned landscape architect Jens Jensen and comprise 75 acres of lakes, fountains, formal gardens, antique classical statuary, a private 9-hole golf course and a conservatory housing exotic plants. If that's not enough, the walls of the indoor swimming pool are in travertine marble. This is a must-see for anyone who appreciates art and culture, an absolute feast for the eyes. Charles Foster Kane would have loved this "Marble Museum," which utilized 17 different kinds of marble in its construction.

I brought my granddaughter who is 2 on Sat. It was perfect She got to pet as many of the animals as she could including kissing all of them. The staff there is super friendly and very helpful. I have never seen her so excited. Her father was there when he was little and still remembers it with a big smile on his face. We all had a wonderful time. Great for small kids and their parents also.
