While not as fancy as Chamonix or Megeve, we found this resort after touring most of the others in the area. Lots of choices, part of the Grand Massif domain that unites 4 different resorts, hundreds of kilometers of slopes combined, plenty of after ski activities.

Le White Pub

Situated in Flaine Forum this was one of the original restaurant bar and probably the nearest to a pub. It doesn't have the mountain atmosphere of say the Michet a few hundred yards away but ideal if you are young and don't mind the noisy environment and average food. OK for basics such as steaks etc. Open in the ski season and mid summer months and good place for after ski drinks. Near the funicular to Flaine Foret.

After introduction to my ski instructor I made my way to the drag lift. ! We had technique lessons during this time and I felt quite pleased with my skiing and did not have any negative feed back ! At the end of the lesson the instructors all had a chat and I was asked if I would move to a lower level as my group was too big ! I was not impressed and after some decision was told that I could stay as another person agreed to go up a class ! I feel that I was most unfairly treated and it ruined my confidence and was unable to complete in the next 2 days Ski School! I paid for a private lesson instead and was praised for my technique ! Zig Zag did contact me and I did explain why I was unhappy but unfortunately was not offered any refund .

After walking the Cirque du Fer a Cheval, Cascade de Rouget was a bit of an anticlimax. But it is easily accessible by car, you don't even need to leave the car to see it if you don't want to.
If you are in Sixt Fer a Cheval, it only takes a few minutes to drive there so do go and have a look.
