Benjamin Maier Ceramics

Reviewed By laughingsquash - Indianapolis, United States

Benjamin Maier is a true talent. We vacation in Glen Arbor for a week or two every year, and always make a point to stop by the shop at least once a trip. His pottery is varied, beautiful, elegant, and practical. I have a beautiful set of tall glasses, a pitcher, a bowl, and two vases. Everything has held up beautifully over the years and are prominently displayed on my shelves. One of the vases even survived a fall from our mantle when the cat knocked it over. The only damage it sustained was a tiny chip on its delicate lip - no idea how it wasn’t shattered since it fell onto our hardwood floor. Highly recommend stopping in when you are in Leland.

Verterra Winery

Reviewed By Pam557 - Bay City, United States

We go to Traverse City every fall to go to the wineries. We always go up to the Leelanau Peninsula because they have our favorite wineries. (Blackstar and Blustone). We always add Verterra Winery to our places to stop because we love Fishtown. We always walk on the pier along the water and have lunch at The Blubird. Verterra is right next to The Blubird. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite wine is the Gewurztraminer. Stop in next time you are in the area. The entire area is a must see!

Carlson's Fishery

My sisters, mom and i visited Carlson’s for smoked fish on a lovely fall Saturday recently. Leland was a favorite stop when we were kids 50 years ago! Carlson’s hasn’t changed except for the fact that chubs aren’t available anymore due to overfishing. We purchased smoked whitefish and smoked trout. Whitefish is milder. Both are so tasty and bring back great memories from when we were kids eating smoked fish on crackers at picnic tables in fishtown. Still a most wonderful place to visit. Thanks for the memories Carlson’s! ❤️

If you like to stop at wineries to do some tasting this is the place. Free samples of maybe 9 different wines. The service and explanation of the different wines was great and informative. Very reasonably priced. Took home 4 bottles.
