Faith is an excellent guide and has a lot of information and interesting facts to share about the birds in the area. She did a very reasonably priced private boat tour for us and guided us on the best times to visit. We saw ospreys,...MoreSo glad you enjoyed yourself. Your company was fun and your fascination for wildlife was great. Thank you. Faith

Steele Winery

Reviewed By Steve R - Roseville, California

Most of the wines and wineries in Kelseyville are mediocre at best.

But at Steele, we're talking about wine superstar Jed Steele. His wines are always really good with an occasional great and outstanding. Only scored a high 3 because of the wine.

Biggest issue is that it's in Kelseyville near Clearlake. Clearlake is dead and smells it in the summer, with pond scum gone awry. Kelseyville is cute and small but not a destination and it's not an easy stop from somewhere or to somewhere. It's a trap.

I've also been told there's lots of pot growing in and around and Meth seems to be an issue for the area.

So even though I like the wine...wouldn't recommend.

Ceago Estate Wines

My wife and I visited this "vinegarden" just a few miles east of our hotel (the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, CA). It is beautiful and continues the Fetzer wine legacy into the next generation. Not only is it organic in practice, but it also endeavors to restore nutrients to the soil by mingling other organic operations (chickens, sheep, olives, nut trees, lavender, etc., into an integrative whole. The wine is just great and will only improve as time goes on. The grounds border Clear Lake. The architecture is Mediterranean, like an old mission updated. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

We walked up from Library Park to tour the Courthouse Museum, but alas, it was closed that day. We still enjoyed the grounds and exhibits outside the museum.

Central location in Lakeport. Some dogs not on leashes although signs say they should be. This was a nuisance to us with our dog ON a leash. Nice spot to eat a quick lunch.

Disney's Boat Rentals

Reviewed By Kim C - Los Angeles, California

The boat and gear were older but worked fine. For example, the 1) jackets and miscellaneous items included with the boat rental were generally in average condition, 2) we were told that the radio may or may not work and the boat comes with skis but no guarantee on size etc (whatever you get, you get). So we had to rent each item separately to pull behind the boat (tube, knee board) and took our chances on the skis.

The instruction from Roy about how to use everything on the boat was clear, but there was an awkward moment where I got on the boat too soon and Roy overreacted to me hopping on too soon, especially considering the boat was tied to a dock. Also prior to that, the dry walk around and inspection with Roy of the older model boat was a little tense (the prop had some serious dings in it and there was random scratches on the boat itself,) because he made sure to remind is that he knew of every single mark on the boat. Well this caused me to take a video of the entire boat to protect myself after his off putting statement, since the boat had plenty of us already.

We paid $20 for losing a very old and worn out life jacket (it blew out).

Gas was $77 for 1 day use and charged at the end of the day.

Each extra rental item was either $30 or $35.

The office staff and owner were kind and helpful. I would rent from them again.

Clearlake Club

The Clearlake Club, in the heart of downtown, is the oldest bar in Lakeport. The beer is ice cold and the bartenders always make you a good drink. You can buy all your California Lottery Draw game tickets and play the Hot Spot Lottery Game. The 3 TV's always have sporting events on. Customers can bring their drinks out on the back deck. Excellent sound system provides music throughout the day and customers can always play the jute box. There are also 2 pool tables for your enjoyment. Just a short walk from downtown lodging and the lake, The Clearlake Club welcomes boaters, bikers, fishermen, etc. Although the bar does not serve food, a customer can order food and have it delivered from any of the close by restaurants.

This place is a must-stop! The decor makes you feel comfortable, the bartender was very nice and super speedy. The owners even bought us or first drinks. There is a lovely back patio on which we enjoyed our cocktails and felt like we belonged there as we made friends with total strangers. We can't wait to go back!
