Jacob's Ranch

After a thorough briefing on the Phone by the Owner 'Jackson', I was totally sold on his philosophy of how to go about with the horses, since it reflected very much my experience with my own animals. The selection of the horses went very easy, and yes, the horses pretty much picked who they wanted for a rider. The couple of rounds in the paddock were very helpful in establishing a trustful relationship with the horse, and yes, it later turned out that my horse took good care of me. So I was able to enjoy the trip up the river to its full potential of beautiful landscape and good environment. The wranglers were caring and very friendly. Anytime again.

Today we rented a Polaris Slingshot from Ridin' Zion located in LaVerkin. What a thrill it was and it did provide a unique on-road driving. We were able to experience driving through Zion Park a whole different way-nothing was blocking our 360 degree view. We forget sometimes to take time out from our daily routine and let the wind blow on our face. It was so cool. Dieter was very kind and made our experience fun.

The views, rocks and sands are picturesque, water clean and calm and there qre nice picnic tables to sit and rest. We saw people coming for bike-, moto-, water activities as well. Would love to come during summer and get into water!

Buffalo Trails Trading Company

Reviewed By Jeannekate - Toronto, Canada

Definitely glad we stopped here instead of Fort Zion across the road on Hwy 9. Based on the burger we had - there's nothing that compares to a juicy, hand crafted, perfectly seasoned burger. The fries were thin cut and just crispy enough (I hate soggy, thick cut fries). Opted for Buffalo Trails Trading Co. because of the sign out for buffalo burgers. We were not disappointed!

Bob, the owner, chef, cashier, and all around jack of all trades was kind and very funny. He gave us some good tips about the local area - unfortunately we were just passing through to hike the trails so I didn't take note.

Fort Zion looks neat and the petting zoo is an attraction, but from what we've seen (not eaten personally, so couldn't tell you for sure) the food is probably frozen and put put together on premise. I personally appreciate the homemade burger at Buffalo Trails.

Did I mention Bob bakes pies? We tried the last slice of his coconut cream pie. TO. DIE. FOR.

Don't leave the area without stopping in and trying the food. The store also has an impressive stock of exotic jerky.

Quail Creek State Park

Reviewed By James B - Hurricane

Beautiful, fairly small, but full of nice bass and trout in a gorgeous setting. Year round enjoyment for the whole family. Quieter than nearby Sand Hollow Reservoir but plenty of perks to make up for it. Many unusual birds frequent the area like cormorants, eagles, hawks, gulls, ducks but not "too" many. Good camping facilities and really easy access. Great place for good memories.
