Kurobe Gorge

Visited recently , aiming to see the autumn leaves in all it's glory.
Regretfully the weather wasn't in our favor , rained the whole day .
Thankfully we had some windows of Sunshine through the drizzling rain , and when the sun shines down , the whole valley turns from gloomy yellow to gold in seconds .
Will definitely return again , and pray harder for a sunny day

Kurobe Gorge

Reviewed By YTCHENG - Hong Kong, China

The train that visitors rode uphill was different from the local train that you took to Unazuki onsen. This trolley train carts were originally used by construction workers for transportation between areas for the Kurobe Dam projects. Currently it was divided into 3 categories with different charges. Under good weather condition, visitors should choose the "open air" category but in cold and rainy days, the second class category was recommended as the window inside could be open up for photo-shooting if required. The best season for sightseeing Kurobe Gorge should be autumn as you could see colourful trees all along the route. There were a few stops on the way up to Keyakidaia and it was advised to sit on the right hand side of the train as better views could be seen from this trip. Highly recommend visitors to try this train ride whenever they come to Unazui area.

Great to soak up the beauty of nature ... a fairly easy walk for beginners, too. We would have like to go down to the water's edge at Sarutobi ... but there's no access. (Safer that way?)

Fish Station Ikuji

Reviewed By alanyeo76 - Singapore

We were driving from toyama to nagano and decided to stop by someplace for lunch. Stumbled across this place on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out!
No regrets! In itself I believe it's an itinerary. The locals apparently visit this place for their seafood needs. Lots of different kind of seafood available for sale here, even the live ones. The prices are very competitive. It's located beside a small port and I believe this is where the fresh seafood comes from. There's one restaurant here and we tried it out! The sashimi was fresh and value for money! Amazing scenery across the location, seeing the alps!
There is a coffee van at the car park tended by a friendly young chap! Very hippy and the name was "hahaha" cafe!

Okukane-Kyo Bridge

Reviewed By YTCHENG - Hong Kong, China

We took the trolley train from Unazukionsen and reached our destination at Keyakida. There were restroom, souvenir shop and cafe facilities inside the station and have our light lunch on the second floor of the station prior to starting our journey around. Because of the heavy rain, later snowing around, we just crossed the Okukane-kyo bridge and walked slightly uphill and returned back to the station for our journey back to Unazuki onsen. There was also a museum in front of the station for visitors and worth to have a look if you have time. If the weather was better, we could definitely walked further uphill and explore more in Keyakidaira.

Kanetsuri Hot Spring

Reviewed By Bestlambert - Taipei, Taiwan

This is where cold river water and hot Springs meet. I was so amazed at the crafts of nature.
People went off the train that went across the Kurobe Gorge and walked down a hill before they reached here and put their feet in the water to rest. That was really refreshing. However, please be very careful about the stones scattered everywhere around. They could hurt your feet.

Onsen Funsui Fountain

Reviewed By YTCHENG - Hong Kong, China

We took the local train to Unazukionsen early in the morning and found the funsui Fountain immediately when we stepped down the staircase of the station. There was a bronze statue together with sign board next to the Fountain as well. For a few steps further down, we found that there were some visitors enjoying the free hot footbath there.
Quite a good experince in the onsen town.

Goeikyo Bridge

We took the trolley train from Unazukionsen uphill and on halfway at Kuronagi Station, we were allowed to step down the platform on the right hand side and took photos at the Atobiki Bridge before the train entered the tunnel. The great curve at the station with the orange-coloured train cars were good targets for photo-takers. Remember to sit on the right hand side of the train and listen to the announcement from the train staff.

YKK Center Park

YKK is such a great contributor to the local economy. I had a pleasure of visiting YKK and touring its museum and cafe. The products made there are high quality zippers, windows, and other architectural products. The housing developments for its employees are energy efficient, and innovative. I highly recommend touring YKK.
