10 Things to do in Kortenbos That You Shouldn't Miss

July 23, 2021 Elouise Mccaul

In a quirky Dutch-ism, Amsterdam may be the official capital of the Netherlands, but it’s The Hague (Den Haag) where the government sits (along with several international courts, for which the city’s best known). Cosmopolitan and cultured, The Hague is Holland’s third-largest town, with just under 500,000 people. Conveniently, the beach resort of Scheveningen is part of The Hague, and en route lies the family-friendly Madurodam, a fascinating 1/25 miniature display of a fictitious Dutch city.

This was our first time at Amaze VR and it was a wonderful experience. We played the zombie shooter game which was tons of fun and very lifelike. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would strongly recommend on vacation for a break from normal touristy stuff.

Poppodium De Zwarte Ruiter

Mornin’ noon & nite. De Zwarte Ruiter has been the beating heart of the Grote Markt in The Hague since 1988. A squat bar at heart, matured into an iconic venue in downtown The Hague. Come for great coffee, sun-drenched beer drinking and good food. Stay for the music. Free entry. Every weekend for 30 years – lockdowns aside – bands have been rocking their socks off on our stage. From The Dead South to godfather of rap Gil Scott Heron, from No Bunny to The Marcus King Band. These wooden floors are saturated with the sweat of local rock legends like Di-Rect, The Deaf and Son Mieux, who all did their first gigs at the Ruiter.
