Panagia Kastriani Monastery

We were very impressed with the location of the monastery but unfortunately the time of our visit did not allow us to experience the program. Somehow I think that Monastery visits need to be accompanied by experiences that enable you to enter the atmosphere.

Ancient Karthea

Make the effort to go down the scary road in a 4x4 vehicle. amazing views . then take # 7 path .......its up and down but worth the effort. The site is slowly being excavated and there are several ruins all interesting.
We encountered 4 people there that day.
We took a picnic but instead of taking it with us we left it in the car at the beach at the start of the trail and enjoyed the swim and lunch after the hIke. Great clear water for swimming.

Lion of Kea

Reviewed By SubhanNair - London, United Kingdom

One of the oldest landmarks in Greece and very mysterious. Mostly theories as to why its there but found it such a fascinating thing to visit. We walked all the way from Korissia to Illouis and the through the city and then its a little bit outside the (very small) city. We found it pretty easily as you just follow the number '1's on the path and keep going. Its not very obvious at first but you'll soon see it. Anyway, its such a beautiful walk with amazing landscapes and we didn't regret it at all. A must for those who like history and archaeology. Though if you are thinking of walking through the ancient paths, (from Korissia or somewhere like that), then be warned the paths are quite wild so if your not an adventurous type or scared of insects, especially spiders, you may want to take a taxi or drive to Illouis and walk straight through the town.

Kea Artisanal - Day Courses

Guided by renowned cookbook author and journalist Aglaia Kremezi, learn to cook seasonal island and Mediterranean specialties. Enjoy the pleasures of our garden, taste exquisite wines from indigenous Greek varieties, a selection of rare artisanal cheeses, and much more...

While Kea provided a wealth of great memories the cooking class at Kea Artisanal was by far the most enjoyable. Costas and Aglaia are such warm and gracious hosts with such a well thought out cooking program. Three of us signed up for a one-day cooking class in Mid-May. Costas met us near our B&B to guide us to his home, and upon arrival snacks and wine were quickly in our hands. Aglaia walked us preparing some traditional Greek dishes to include preparation of breads and lagans. It was great to learn some of the tricks of the trade. After preparing the foods the group sat down to a most enjoyable experience. We spent perhaps the next three hours conversing, eating, and drinking a variety of wines offered by Costas. Costas and Aglaia had a wealth of information and gladly shared their insights. I could not think of any better ambassadors for the Island of Kea than Costas and Aglaia. We left with great memories and a detailed list of things to do provide by Costas. What an amazing start to out stay on Kea and was never topped even given the tough competitions of the other wonderful times we had.

Gialiskari Beach

Beach is very nice, usually without waves due to the fact that it is inside a very close bay. Great beach bar, nice sunbeds but very very expensive (5€ each sunbed). Big disappointment some very bad smell coming from the organic cleaning located somewhere close.

Xyla Beach

Reviewed By CarpeDiem14 - Athens, Greece

Xyla is a very nice beach.
As everywhere in Kea, half the beach has loungers and umbrellas, and on the other half you are free to lie enywhere you want.
If you are not interested in the "organised" part of the beach, then it is great.
In the organised part, the loungers and umbrellas are very nice but the service is terrible.
Reserving your loungers is a nightmare, the person in charge is rude and unaccommodating, and furthermore, they serve nothing except coffees and some soft drinks.
It is OK for a couple of times, but overall i would definitely recommend "Spathi" beach!

Sykamia Beach

Reviewed By Konstantinos_Gr_Trip - Athens, Greece

One of my favourite Beaches on the island! It is a bit far from the main road (about 20' in dirt road) but the scenery throughout the trip is fantastic! The beach is isolated and although there are some umbrellas there, there is neither a beach bar nor anything else to shop from (get your bottles of water prior). The beach is sandy and the waters are clear and amazing! Totally worth visiting it!
PS ask the locals whether the wind is favourable because it can get big waves that don't let you enjoy the bath
