Enjoyed learning ranching Hawaiian style. Would have like to have seen more of the ranch operations. If you are only going for a meal , don't go. The meal is an average buffet, but coupled with the views from the ranch and learning of the ranching on the island, it makes the evening a great evening. The only downside was the bus ride. We had the shortest of the group, but bus driver made the trip seem long. The driver had some information on the history of ranching, but seemed to be more focused on making jokes about his wife and family. A good bus driver/tour guide would have made the evening perfect.

We've dove with Kohala Divers on our last three trips to the Big Island. Unfortunately, we were only able to go out with them one time on this trip because they were already fully booked due to spring break. Their boat is relatively compact, but very comfortable and has a marine head. We love that they take out smaller groups and their guide to guest ratio is typically 6 to 1 or less. On our trip, there were two dive masters for 8 divers and they grouped us according to ability so that they could concentrate on the beginners without holding back the more experienced divers. Our only suggestion for improvement would be that their process for rinsing gear at the end of the dive wasn't very clear, but otherwise, we were very pleased. Everyone we've ever come in contact with is friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to diving more with them on our next trip.

Though we did not hike or drive into the valley itself, definitely worth checking out the Waipio Valley Lookout for its breathtaking, million-dollar views. There is an access road down to the valley itself, however only 4WD vehicles are recommended as it is a very steep grade. There may be some people willing to drive you down should you be interested. Otherwise, it is worth stopping to take a few pictures and immerse yourself with the beautiful landscape. Parking is a bit tough to come by on busy days, but you can probably manage to find some on the street. Just be mindful of property driveways and such!

The Waipi'o Valley Shuttle provides a 90 minute guided tour of Waipi'o Valley. You hear about why the Ancient Hawaiians considered Waipi'o Valley sacred and it's importance to the Hawaiians. You will see the 1200 ft high Hi'ilawe Falls and learn how the Hawaiians used plants found in the valley. Most of the windows have been removed for your viewing pleasure.
We took the shuttle down Waipio Valley with Douglas, and had an amazing trip on one if the steepest and narrowest roads in the US; Douglas was hilarious and managed to immediately 'click' with all of us, while at the same time imparting interesting and valuable info concerning the beautiful Valley and its history; keep shaking the Shaka, Douglas! A working cattle ranch that allows tourists to drive cattle.
Had a wonderful time today with the well-behaved, wonderful horses, my husband and 9-year-old twins (their birthday). Wrangler Felicia did a fab job letting us feel free and learn to manage our horses, while staying safe and feeling comfortable that we knew what we needed to (because she coached us really well throughout). Beautiful scenery, rain had stopped, will go back. I highly recommend the 1.5-hour ride for all ages and abilities.

We had an awesome experience with Bryan and Chris today! We wish we could go again tomorrow. They were so awesome with our three kids and the snorkeling was amazing. We saw dolphins and my kids tubed off the back of the catamaran- a new experience they will always remember. We will tell our friends!

Super fun private kayak/snorkel adventure with Evan and Dominick and my family of four. The kayaking was a bit challenging, but totally doable, and the snorkeling was terrific. The weather was perfect and all the fish and turtles in the area came out to visit with us. Evan had a great assortment of fruit and snacks on our morning tour. I would definitely do this again, maybe even on a longer tour.

Horseback riding tours in Waipio Valley
Our family of 4 ( me, my husband and our two daughters she 11 and 13) had a great time. The guides are responsible, safe, knowledgable and did a great job. Our group was just our family and one other family of 4, so 8...MoreThat’s a significant point you mentioned! We believe that our guests will develop their own relationship with the valley. Mahalo for sharing!
