Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel - Day Tours

Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel is the premier dog sled touring operator in New England. We offer year round dog sledding adventures that range from 2 - 50 miles (including overnights). All of our dog sledding experiences are designed to be hands on to the comfort level of the guests. Participants ages 2 and up are given the opportunity to meet and greet our rescue and second chance sled dogs, help harness and hitch their team and even help drive the sled (at musher discretion for guests and dog safety of course)! As always, the proceeds generated from our kennel based tours go directly to covering the expenses involved in taking in these incredible canine athletes and providing them with a home and job for life.

We got back from New Hampshire this past weekend and Muddy Paws was certainly the highlight of our trip! Due to time constraints, we could only do the one hour kennel tour but it was absolutely worth it. Despite the sub zero temperatures, the three staff we met were all in high spirits and INCREBILY nice. We got stories about each dog and were free to roam and pet whoever we pleased (serious heaven for any dog lover). There was a family from Texas that was awaiting their tour inside the heated area trying to keep warm while we were outside with the dogs. Much to my boyfriend's surprise, we were asked to help hitch the team for their tour (put on harnesses and clip into the line) which just about made his entire day, as well as mine. I have experience with dog sledding and sled dogs in general, as my family lives in Alaska and sponsors one of the greatest Iditarod mushers of all time. I can assure you these dogs were happy, healthy and LOVE what they do. Many are rescues and last chance dogs which I find absolutely wonderful. To make it all even better, when the sled dogs are retired, they are adopted out. We compiled our own list of who's ready for a home because we would love one (or three)!!
Overall, this place is absolutely wonderful and they certainly deserve your business. Dog sledding is such a fun and thrilling experience and I can assure that your kids/family will remember it for a long time.

On all sides at the top were breathtaking views of mountains and rivers and lakes. We also took the tour of the cabin and what interesting things we learned. Overall, great visit!

My family and I visited Santa’s Village the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was the perfect place to be to kick in the Christmas season! My children loved the real reindeer - such beautiful animals. They had so much fun feeding them apples. They also had a blast decorating the gingerbread cookies and drinking hot cocoa. We were also pleased to see that there was a manger scene incorporated into the park. The lights that came on in the evening were beautiful and really puts you in a festive mood. If you love Christmas like we do, you will love this park! Just make sure you bring cold weather gear for the colder months!

We went to opening night of Mama Mia!

The playhouse itself is quite nice, and the staff that works the front office was great. There aren't really any bad seats in the house. It's not air conditioned, though, so dress appropriately.

The show itself was very inconsistent. The woman who played Donna was fantastic, as were many of the supporting actors. The man who played Sam, unfortunately, was beyond bad. I don't understand how they could have cast him in this role. His acting was awful, and his singing was even worse. I hate to write a bad review of an actor, but these are supposed to be professionals.

There were also several issues with the sound. I'm not sure if this was just bad opening night luck, or if the problem is persistent.

We had fun, for sure, but there were definitely some kinks that needed to be worked out.

Brought my 20-yr old nephew along with me for my second visit to Pondicherry Wildlife Reserve and he was as impressed as I. It was even better than in the fall. We saw wildlife including different types of ducks and bear. I was happy that we found the second pond which my husband did not care to do when we went. My nephew and I sat at the little Cherry for a while and just sat and enjoyed the tranquility. I also did not realize that there were so many trails coming in from different directions and we explored them all. Enjoyed even checking out some of the beautiful mushrooms along the trail. Fabulous day!!

We did a helicopter flight with Vertical Ventures in Whitefield today. It was a great experience. My wife was pretty nervous but our pilot (from Texas) was very, very nice and he did everything he could to make her feel safe and relaxed and he did a great job at that. He flew really calm and my wife enjoyed the flight as much as I did.
We took the half our flight. The pilot showed us Mount Washington, the presidential area, Bretton Woods, Littleton (NH) and other places. He explaned where we flew and what we saw. And the view of the Indian Summer from above was breathtaking. It was everything we had hoped for and one of the highlights of our vacation.

We like to come to Lancaster and shop at Simon The Tanner. They used to have an instore restaurant that made excellent wraps. The good thing is... they are doing some renovation on the building next to it and a cafeteria is in the making. Yes! The other thing that is nice about this place is that is not part of a chain (boring). We will come again and hope the wraps will be reinstated on the menu of the new to be realized cafeteria!

One last thing to add: the building is so beautiful from the inside. Look and be in awe of the ceiling for example.

Caps Ridge Trail

The hike along this 2.5-mile trail is a challenge, from an elevation of 3,008 feet to the top of Mt. Jefferson at 5,715 feet.

Reviewed By SurfingDoc - East Coast, US

We hiked the Caps Ridge Trail on a gorgeous bluebird day. We've hiked a lot of trails in the White Mountains and have done our share of 4,000-footers. Caps Ridge is one of the most beautiful trails we've hiked, and it may have been the most fun! If you like rock scrambles and a decent amount of hand-over-hand climbing, Caps Ridge will be a real treat.

Please don't think this trail will be easy because it's only 2.5 miles to the summit of Mt. Jefferson. There's a good deal of elevation gain that will seriously strain a fair-to-middlin' hiker. Give this route the respect you'd give any other route in the Presidentials - for the physical stamina needed as well as what you pack in preparation. And always remember that no matter what kind of day it is at the bottom, the ever-changing higher summits forecast should always be your guide.

Have fun and be safe! :)

Enjoyed the experience a lot and would highly recommend this location for a nice getaway! The views from the hotel are exceptional year round!
