Founded in the 17th century by patriarch Nikon, New Jerusalem Monastery was designed after Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is a functioning monastery and a monument of a great architectural and cultural value.

Novojerusalemskiy monastery in Russian. Located near Istra railroad/bus station, 10 minute walk distance. 40km northwest from Moscow. On Volokolomskoe expressway.
Renovation was going on more than 10 years, and now, from a couple years ago, whole renew project is going on. Everywhere looks like construction site. On 2016, will be completed according to their schedule.
Main temple is closed from time to time. Sometimes you can see underground, sometimes 2nd floor. Very beautiful temple building. Saints cemetries. Almost Russian churches, cathedrals, monasteries - no entrance fee. This monastery has high thick walls like a fortress. You can see canons in front of the gate.
It's famous place. So many people comes after wedding. Many tourists and many Russian religious peoples. Parking lots are big, but full every weekends and holidays.
This region is one of the most beautiful place near Moscow. Beautiful dacha area.
It's the place also, president or vice-president visits on new years eve often.

The Museum exhibition complex of Moscow region "New Jerusalem" is one of the oldest and biggest state museums of Moscow region. It was founded in 1920. In 2013 the museum moved to the new building with the display area of 10 thousand square meters. The present complex "New Jerusalem" keeps more than 180 thousand of exhibits, which include the rich collections of church plates, porcelain objects, arms, furniture, rare paintings and graphics works of the XX century. In the park zone there is the Exhibition building and the Department of wooden architecture. Visitors of the Museum can see the summer smithy and ride horses. On the territory of the complex many celebratory public events for adults and children are held. In the building of the Museum there are separate halls for the science library and the archival depository, the conference-hall, "The Center of the equal opportunities", the cafe, the hotel and souvenier shops.

i've heard that it was entirely destroyed by the germans but it was rebuilt with amazing architectural work i've ever seen.. i like the weapons, porcelin, grafic works and paintings and decoratives.

Сам по себе театр небольшой, уютный. Находится около памятника Ленина, пешком от станции минут 17 (2 остановки на автобусе). Если ехать на Московском автобусе, можно его попросить высадить у памятника Ленину.

Согласна с предыдущим оппонентом, памятник как памятник. Но если вдруг будете рядом, например в кафе Давидоф, пройдите 50 метров в сторону парка и Центральной площади, остановитесь около ворот Истринского водоканала и сфотографируйте этот памятник

Прекрасно помню то состояние храма еще совсем недавно, когда подземная часть была завалена и закрыта, а теперь какая красота, можно спустится вниз, поставить
свечку, набрать воды из источника.
Увидеть скромное надгробие сына великого полководца Александра Васильевича
Суворова, Аркадия Александровича и его матери Варвары.
Как здорово увидеть такую красоту вновь!

Вот вот и закончится реставрация, великолепная красота!
Помню еще лет двадцать назад здесь была разруха, завалы строительного хлама.
Сейчас в начале декабря, в солнечный день нам открылось просто чудо чудесное,
мы ждали этого, так что бы в будни и в хорошую погоду, подарок.
Пока подойти ближе и тем более войти в храм нет возможности, хотя слышно было,
служба проходит, путем опроса сотрудников выяснили, что со дня на день будет все доступно и открыто, пока только можно посетить главный храм и полубоваться красотой, набрать воды в подземном источнике, когда-то заваленной церкви. Неожиданное чудо, как же приятны такие перемены, это радостно!

Этот храм отличается от величественных сооружений Ново-Иерусалимского монастыря. Тут все гораздо скромнее и умиротвореннее. Храм с богатой историей: от дворян Морозовых до артели по пошиву сумок. В настоящее это полностью восстановленный храм с красивой колокольней и ухоженной территорией.

Одно из самых мистических и притягательных мест Истры. Эти зиккураты Теслы давно не используются, но тем не менее на посетителей производят неизгладимое впечатление. Нужно только понимать, что все это находится на охраняемой территории и не факт что вы туда попадете.

Very good place to spend time with your kids. Cost 300₽ per person during working days and 350₽ per person on weekends. They also have nanny, also we have not tried this service.
