Playa de las Conchas

Reviewed By RicardoBowie - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

A beautifully preserved and desolate beach on the West Coast of Graciosa. A masterclass of the white powdery stuff. If you make it to Graciosa, rent a bike or walk the 1 hour to the beach - we'll worth a look and the spectacular scenery.

Buceo La Graciosa

The Chinijo (small) archipelago, to the north of Lanzarote, is made up of three islands: La Graciosa, Alegranza and Montana Clara, and two large rock formations: the Roque del Este and the Roque del Oeste or del Infierno. The Chinijo archipelago, together with the Riscos (cliffs) de Famara, was declared a Natural Park . In addition, since 1995, its territorial waters, covering an area of 70.700 hectares, have been listed as a marine reserve due to their geographical and biological interest, being the largest protected marine area in Europe. Diving in the Chinijo Archipelago: Discover a world of mysterious beauty: Within it there are hidden some of the most spectacular submarine treasures in Europe, such as El bajo de las Gerardias or Roncadores , whose exuberance and biodiversity have earned the admiration of scientists. Immerse yourself into the blue of the wildest Atlantic, or relive the history of our anchors and archaeological remains of the sixteenth century. The diversity of funds in a reserve of such length is very large. We can dive in very different places. It suffices to compare the channel that separates the island of La Graciosa and Lanzarote (called the river), where blanquizal and sand is the predominant background; with for example the channel north of La Graciosa, which separates this island of Montana Clara and Roque del Infierno, here is dominated by hedge funds algae. Predominantly volcanic rocky formations bottoms , with an orography dotted of crevices, tunnels and galleries, impressive school of fish, gorgonians, valuable archaeological remains, coral ... all this is alternated in more than 20 different dive sites all over the island. This makes diving here a unique adventure. All dives are within the Marine Reserve and are suitable for all levels, from the newly initiated to the most extensive experience.
