Steamboat Era Museum

The Steamboat Era Museum opened its doors in 2004. It tells the story of the steamboats and how they altered the lives of everyone along the Chesapeake Bay. The steamboats provided an economic lifeline. The cities of Norfolk and, more predominately, Baltimore acted as gateways to the world beyond. The cities provided the markets, the towns provided the goods, and the steamboats provided a means to both. The era is brought to life with models, artifacts, photos . Here you can step back into time; a romantic time full of adventure, splendor and prosperity. Coming this year! The Pilothouse of the Potomac has been restored and will take pride of place in the museum! New exhibits are set to be unveiled with the reopening of the Museum in April, 2021

This is a world class little museum. It's well thought out and beautifully presented. For such a small town, I was surprised to see all the new and creative exhibits that have been installed this year. I did visit last year. The staff are all quite knowledgeable and super friendly. Only $5 for admission and kids under 12 are free and welcomed with a smile! Since I'm a "happy shopper", the gift shop has something for everyone-hooray! I left feeling richer in spirit learning so much about the Era of the Steamboat on the nearby rivers. While it's a small museum, it is full of history. This is a "don't miss" if you are visiting the Northern Neck.

I play this course annually and have seen a real improvement. The fairways, greens and bunkets are in great shape. While the cart paths are a bit bumpy all else is very nice. Most of the holes are interesting and challenging although i tend to alternative from the white to the blue tees since a few holes are a bit short. The staff is really accomodating and i have yet to be hampered by slow play
