Imperia (pronounced [imˈpɛːrja] listen (help·info)) is a coastal city and comune in the region of Liguria, Italy. It is the capital of the province of Imperia, and historically it was capital of the Intemelia district of Liguria. Mussolini created the city of Imperia on 21 October 1923 by combining Porto Maurizio and Oneglia and the surrounding village communes of Piani, Caramagna Ligure, Castelvecchio di Santa Maria Maggiore, Borgo Sant'Agata, Costa d'Oneglia, Poggi, Torrazza, Moltedo and Montegrazie.

This complex of Fratelli Carli is a must visit. This is the main HQ and production facility for the family-run company, plus a museum of all the olive oil artifacts they have collected over the years. Both are worth a visit. We probably enjoyed our private factory tour and company store shopping more than the museum. We left with a cart full of their olive oil-based products.

You walk under the Logge overlooking the dark blue Ligurian sea. Also a favorite Reading spot. It is located in the Parasio, the old part of Porto Maurizio. In the summertime, they hold Concerts under the Logge, even if the acoustic is not the best, the location is hard to beat.

We spent a couple of days here late September and the weather was warm, the sea not too cold and the beach was clean. The port is pretty and there are plenty of nice places to eat.

This is the larger of Imperia's two ports (Porto Maurizio being the other), and the livelier one - by far. This harbor is protected by a large balestrade that has a Promenade for walking, fishing, sitting, whatever. Near the base of the balestrade is a small amusement park for the kids, and a large public parking area (rare in the Oneglia area). Along the Promenade are a lot of restaurants and some shops. Much of this area is open late for special events, which are often held in this area.

Acquired by the Province of Imperia in 2002, the villa has been open for the first time to the public on January 17, 2010. Grock was a famous swiss clown and musician in the 20's and 30's. He also was an inventor and designed his own villa. The style reflects his Friends Gaudi, Picasso and Dali. The views are spectacular and the villa now houses a clown museum. The grounds are very pleasant and the staff were spectacular in their knowledge and welcome!

Really massive and with a sumptuous interior, it is a good sample of neoclassic architecture. It dominates the town from its position adjacent to Parasio, the highest point of Porto Maurizio.
Because of its large size coupled with good acoustics, it is often the venue of classical Concerts.

This private museum is a rarity, insofar as it houses and displays all aspects of olive history, from its origins to the most modern cultivation methods, samples of cultivars, types of presses, nutritional aspects of the Mediterranean diet, implements, containers, interactive displays etc, ending with a very attractive section of oil sets throughout the centuries. Recommendable.

Beautiful church in a beautiful area. It's a great church to go inside light a candle leave a little donation and go eat gelato outside. Definitely worth the time to stop by for few min.

Отличное место, как для прогулки с детьми, так и приятно посидеть и взрослым. Красивый вид на море, рядом кафе, сцена-амфитеатр. За месяц пребывания в Империи много раз приходили сюда с детьми. Здесь много как местных, так и приезжих семей. Детские горки, качели и пр. уже скажем прямо не новые, но чистые и в нормальном состоянии. Рядом проходит заброшенная автодорога (была закрыта из-за камнепада и селей). По ней ездят велосипедисты, а также народ бегает. Приятно прогуляться и по этой заброшенной дороги до Диано Марина - примерно 30-40 минут пешком с шикарным видом с высоты на море.
С одной стороны парка море, с другой -гора, густо покрытаяразличными деревьями, поют птички. Место умиротворяющее. На лужайке под пальмами нередко устраивают пикник, и мы последовали этом примеру - на мой день рождения устроили пикник вечером, ближе к заходу солнца и отлично провели время. Очень хочется вернуться сюда снова.

Un museo che è un piccolo grande tesoro nascosto in una caratteristica frazione nell'entroterra di Imperia. Una collezione invidiabile, esposta con il rigore e la passione di un vero, grande esperto, che con simpatia e competenza racconta ogni singolo pezzo esposto. Un vero patrimonio di una regione bellissima come la Liguria.
