La vache qui pleure

Reviewed By GaiteiroIngles - Farnham, United Kingdom

I went with the excellent Tinariwen Tours, after a week's 4x4 tour round the Tadrart Rouge. this seems to be one of the most ancient pieces of prehistoric rock art in the Sahara, and one of the rare ones surviving from the 'wet season' (as it was then) when people dispersed over the lowlands. Most rock art is from higher altitude 'dry season' shelters.

Tassili N'Ajjer National Park

A vast plateau on the edge of the Sahara is famous for the 8,000 years old cave paintings.

I was on the Plateau last October 2019, I went there on a trip organized by the travel agency Immesoukal Voyages. I had a Touareg team only for me : Hamid Housseyni, the guide, Khaled Hamdaoui, the cooker, Hadj Mohamed the donkey-driver and his son Achour. Highly recommend you guys to visit Plateau of Tassili by trekking.

how to describe !? i left Djanet and spend 1 week inside the Tadrart national park, the only one open to the foreigner without special army escort. first i felt save , second i organized it with a local agency name Mouflon Tourisme based in Tamamrasset the experience was unique, spectacular, the landscaping, sand dunes higher than some mountains, the black basalt sculpturs , all was magical, sleeping under the stars, discovering the desert life...... i highly recommend

6. EXPEDITION & SAFARI ALGERIA

EXPEDITION & SAFARI ALGERIA

In this part of the Sahara, time has stopped. The Tadrart offers one of the most fantastic desert landscapes. The gigantic dunes of a single red. The narrow canyons, the rocky peaks, the winding arches, the sandstone castles, as well as the rock paintings and engravings ... form a picture with timeless colors ... for the pleasure of its visitors!
