Husum (North Frisian: Hüsem) is the capital of the Kreis (district) Nordfriesland in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The town was the birthplace of the novelist Theodor Storm, who coined the epithet "the grey town by the sea". It is also the home of the annual international piano festival Raritäten der Klaviermusik (Rarities of Piano Music) founded in 1986.

A collection of everything and anything around ships. Not bad to pass an hour or two on a rainy day. But not a museum of the modern kind with interactive expositions etc also not very suited for kids. On the plus side this museum is only managed by freelance helpers and financed without public funding.

We were staying in Husum and visited the museum. We were given and English booklet to help language. The museum houses everything to do with the sea faring side of Husum, from boats which are old and the ship building.

The Christmas House (Weihnachtshaus) is situated on Westerende, an idyllic street in the centre of Husum. The building - a cultural monument from the end of the 19th century that has been carefully restored - houses one of the most comprehensive collections on Christmas, displaying several thousand ehibits on three storeys.

This small house hiddent in a residential neighbourhood of Husum treasures so many christmas jewels that will make you inner child and nostalgic side rocket. A unique place to visit if you have extra time in the city with a little christmas store that will allow you to get christmas decoration and "sourvenirs" all year around.

Situated in the centre of Husum, the church has a Baroque elegance in simplicity. It was built in 1833. Unfortunately there is no English information available but worth a visit when in Husum

What a wonderful and well preserved castle is this. It is very big, and impressive, but what is wonderful is the park it is surrounded by... this is the time when around 5 million crocus bloom! all purple! you can find yourself like in a dream. This year 2017 the famous Husumer Krokusblütenfest is going to be next weekend 18-19 March.... I´m very sorry I missed it, but I get to see a lot of lovely blooming!

Sehr schönes Kongresszentrum mit goßem Theatersaal und einer großen Messehalle. Im Dezember findet in der Messehalle die Eiszeit mit Eislauf-Arena und separatem Bereich für Eisstockschießen statt. Im Kongresszentrum finden regelmäßig Theateraufführungen und Konzerte statt. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Midt i Husum foran Marienkirche og midt på markedspladsen finder man "Tine Brunnen" som den kaldes i folkemunde og officielt Asmussen-Woldsen-Denkmal. Denne bronze fiskerpige blev rejst som en tak til Storkøbmand og skibsreder Friedrich Woldsen og hans kusine Catharina Asmussen som tak, de havde i 1859 stiftet en velgørende organisation som skulle komme Husum og borgere til gavn, idag er denne mindre, men flere landbrug og en børnehave hører hertil.
Bronze fiskerpigen blev skabt af Husum kunstneren Adolf Brutt, pengene hertil blev indsamlet offentligt og hos private.
I et stort brøndbassin står bronze pigen på et stort granit sokkel og i hvert af hjørnerne står der et fiske hoved med åben mund og sprøjter vand, 8 ialt.
Modellen var Frk Dora Fuchs som var hotel tjeneste pige i byen.
Kort inden færdig gørelsen blev der debat om hendes fodtøj, nogle mente at træsko så forkert ud, det blev dog ikke ændret og den 5.10.1902 blev mindesmærket indviet.

Die Bahn ist in mehrere Themengebiete aufgeteilt (Eskimo, Sahara, Dinos).
Alles für meinen Geschmack sehr aufwändig. Eine unglaublich tolle Minigolfbahn.
Wir hatten für den Nachwuchs noch im Vorfeld Leuchttattoos besorgt. Die kamen natürlich gut an.
Toiletten sind übrigens auffallend sauber. (Kann ja nicht schaden, das mal erwähnt zu haben.)
