Went to ask questions on the local area as we are on an extended holiday in Seignosse Ocean. Staff friendly and helpful and willing to try and understand our bad French before resorting to their good English. Although they could not answer all our questions they managed to deal with most of them and were willing to do internet searches to supplement their standard written material . Try them .

Natural reserve of Marais d'Orx

I went for the birding and the landscape, and was very pleasantly surprised by the signage and explanations, the bird hides were integrated in the landscape and there were several whimsical details. The history of the marais was fascinating, dating back to Napoleon who desired to drain the swamp to use for agriculture. If you go to the end of the reserve you will have information on the human impact of draining a swamp.
For people with limited mobility, it's well explained on the website: there is a boardwalk until the first hide. Thereafter, there is a path which is partly sandy and uneven: this makes it not possible for wheelchair or stroller.
This is a great place to take your children if they like to observe nature.
There is limited shade, so be prepared during the summer it gets hot.

Le Tuquet

My partner and I had an excellent Sunday evening meal here this week. the service was warm and friendly - the waiter humoured my very poor French, which is always a plus. The wine list was good - it included local and regional good wines. the menu displayed lots of local ingredients and dishes too. We were really impressed with our cote de boeuf (delicious and HUGE) which came with three sides - homemade fries, homemade tagliatelle (pave?) and steamed vegetables in a cream sauce. We had crepes with local black cherry jam and Chantilly for dessert. The place was full of locals sitting outside in the garden with their families. The bill came to €65 for wine, dessert, large main and a complimentary starter; A really good price for an excellent evening.

I booked the field at Angresse for a Stag do with my mates and we had an amazing time. The field has a variety of terrains from open woodland to boggy marshes with a healthy sprinkling of dense undergrowth in the mix it really accommodates for everybody's tastes. Charles is a great host and has lots of different game plans for those wanting to spice it up a bit. He's also put a load of obstacle and made some hide out as well.
Friendly, well maintained and good location. What more could you want?

Atlantic Park

This water park was smaller than others we have been to, but it was still a worthwhile visit, particularly for my 11 year old who loved the super kamikaze slide which scared the life out of me, particularly when you grab the rail and swing out! The location was also good as it was a short stroll to the beach, so we killed 2 birds with one stone.

Zoo de Labenne

minutes from the Basque coast, welcomes you from February to November for an outing with family or friends.A Zoo in a unique setting and with many young born every year !The Zoo extends over 12 acres and allows you, in charming surroundings (cork oaks, maritime pines, eucalyptus trees….), to meander within the heart of 5 continents.Zebras, wallabies, lemurs, parrots… 200 animals from 60 species with numerous births occurring every year.Depending at which period you choose to visit, you will look for their cute little faces… in their mother’s pockets (wallabies), riding piggy back or on their mother’s tummies (lemurs)… moments of tenderness not to be missed !More recently, those of all ages can discover some Robinsons not quite like the others. On a small specially built island, brown and red haired lemurs (lemurs from Madagascar) swing along from rope courses, all under the friendly eye of a Capybara, the largest rodent in the world.A family day out to the Zoo Your children can stroke miniature goats in the mini-farm, walk side by side with wallabies in the semi-enclosed paddock….. and even be accompanied by friendly peacocks as they stroll along the alleyways. A picnic area shaded by cork oak trees and a children’s play area will complete your wonderful day to be shared with family or friends !

Before visiting this zoo, one needs to know that this is a humble zoo and not an extravagant one with wolves as its main attraction.
It has a nice big Kangaroo park where kids can feed the kangaroos.
It also has two nice sheep and goat petting areas.
Advice, hide the popcorn when you get into the goats and sheep area, they'll attack you like vicious piranhas if you don't!
Oh, and treat this trip like going to a picnic. Prepare some sandwiches and juice (a picnic meal if you may) and rest before/after visiting the animals and have a nice meal.
