I have been coming here since the mid 1990's, I admit I am biased because it brings me good old memories. I have been there twice in August and appreciated - as usual - the cleanliness and the varieties of activities available.
Aside for the lake and the nice playground (Martindale beach), we have been to the petting farm which is nice and very educational.
On our second visit my kids loved the Splash 'n Blast (fee to enter), a good alternative to the beach.
Very neat bike route.

A par 72, this challenging course plays from 5,045 yards to 7,010 yards, with the first 18 holes encircling scenic Lake Walden.

There is 27 holes here. Played 1-18. Well designed and playable course for the amateur. The holes were not tight but will challenge you to keep it in the fairway. Drift off and you can find yourself in the weeds. Often the rough will leak that way.

One hole you saw the highway, and maybe 2 more you could see the RV campground a 100 yards from the course. Otherwise, you and the course.

Note: the turn is NOT at the clubhouse. Bring a snack or call the clubhouse and they will bring food. There is a carry girl. We saw her 2 times during the round. 2 restrooms during the round and 2 port o ---.

Great trails for hiking. Bike paths. Fun kid areas. The nature center is small, but interesting. The event area is such a beautiful indoor/outdoor mix. I would get married here. Easy to borrow backpacks for hiking adventures. Very close to downtown Clarkston.

Every year in the fall our family makes our way to Longs to buy our pumpkins for Halloween. It is so much fun! We would go out to the pumpkin patch and then the kids would pick out the one or two that they thought were the best! Another annual thing to do there is picking apples in their orchard and then buying a bag full of hot fresh doughnuts. They are soooooo delicious.

The Adventure Park at West Bloomfield

Appealing to outdoor fun-seekers age 5 through adult, the Adventure Park features multiple zip lines and aerial ropes challenge courses for hours of "fun in the trees." Suitable challenges for kids, teens and adults. The Adventure Park consists of ten different "ropes courses" through the trees, of varying challenge levels, from introductory to advanced. The self-guided courses do not require previous climbing experience. After receiving a safety briefing and harness, each climber selects a course at their comfort level and then proceeds to navigate its different "bridges" or "elements" moving from tree platform to tree platform. The courses include zip lines as well. Climbers proceed at their own pace and each course requires anywhere from approximately 15 - 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion of one course the visitor may again ascend the starting platform and select another course. Generally, a climbing ticket entitles the visitor to unlimited climbs during a three-hour period. Park staff members are continually on-site and available for assistance or questions. All climbers wear safety harnesses that employ "double-clipped-on" technology to help keep the climber continuously connected to a safety cable throughout their time in the trees. The courses are designed for ages five and older, with appropriate challenges suited for kids, teens and adults. (Five- and six-year-olds are permitted to climb on our Purple courses only and are each required to have an adult climbing with them. One adult per child.)

The haunted forest was amazing. Only one small fright for my preschoolers. The entire family enjoyed the Halloween theater experience. The actors were great, Short skits at each stop kept the little ones engaged and the participation requirement to get a token was so much fun. The goodie bag at the end was surprisingly decent. We will return for this event. My girls have been practicing their "best scarecrow pose" for next year.

As soon as Autumn comes around, this is the place to be. They have the best cider and make the greatest plain and apple cinnamon donuts! They can't be beat, especially when they're warm. Whenever you're visiting Kensington Metro Park or headed to a University of Michigan game in Ann Arbor, be sure to stop and pick up some cider and donuts for your picnic or tailgating. You'll be glad you made the stop!

Proud Lake State Park os just a quick drive from many western Detroit subburbs, but gives the feel of "up north", albeit with an occasional sound of traffic. They offer swimming, boating, canoe rental, and camping. Because of its close proximity getting a camping space may be a challenge on nice weekends. I'd recommend the state's online reservation portal to assure yourself a spot. If you did not spring for the $12 liscense plate "recreational passport" tag upgrade you will need to pay only for your admission, except if you want to rent a camping space of course.

This the best maintained course I have played this year. The greens were flawless. The fairways were well manicure. No cheap or gimmicky holes. Challenging but fair. Tree lined fairways make many of the holes tight. The rolling hills make changing elevation a part of the game. I will play there again. Probably soon.
