We called in at the office to book a kayak tour for the following day, but the weather conditions meant they weren't sure it would be able to go ahead so we had to ring back the following morning to check. Thankfully it was so that afternoon we went to the starting point on the beach and had to wait a while for the others to arrive.
The guide was good and knowledgeable, and stopped the group at various points to talk about the history and geology of the area.
The trip was a bit tiring and we didn't get to stop at Cathedral Cove as the wind was too strong and the waves too big. We had walked there the previous day so it didn't really matter too much.
The weather wasn't ideal and meant we were quite cold and wet at the end, the river on Cook's Beach.
They took some photos during the trip which were put on Facebook.

Parked at Flaxmill Bay, walked over the beach and up through the bush, following an easy path to the view point. It took about 30 mins and the views were brilliant. We then walked down to Lonely Bay and after sitting for 30mins, headed back to Flaxmill. Overall it took about 2 hours including stops.
I would strongly recommend this easy walk.

Can't say enough good things for Danny and the crew and the awesome range of liquors, wine, and food they serve up. Danny greets you with a 'show' about the history of feijoas that will surprise you and is awesome for a laugh. The pizzas and squid are delicious and the cidar and liquors have a great fresh taste of feijoa. Relaxed atmosphere is welcoming. Bonus that they offer freedom camping, the only place I've found in Coromandel to allow it, so you can spend that money on drinks instead!!

The art is a gallery and store. There are a few souvenir-type offerings such as carved fish hook necklaces and wood sunglasses. But there are also some large garden sculptures. We especially like the mosaics created with thousands of small beach pebbles.

We absolutely loved our time at The Lost Spring! Very relaxing soaking in the various hot volcanic spring water rockpools, walking along the narrow paths in the lush Gardens mades it even more relaxing and like on a little adventure seeing where the paths go. There are caves to swim through, lined with beautiful natural crystal structures, and you can lay and rest on day lounges and the friendly staff will bring your drinks and food orders. There is also a spa you can get massages and a restaurant overlooking the main pool. We found the facilities clean and well maintained. There is wifi if you need to access internet or need to access your business files etc. Highly recommend.

Hahei Beach Walk

Reviewed By Andrew P - Melbourne, Australia

There's no particular unique attraction about this beach, it's just gorgeous. Sheltered for the kids, enormous, with space to get away from people. The only problem is parking. There is a very large new carpark at the entrance to town. It's then a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. New parking restrictions are being rolled out, so be prepared to not be able to park right at the beach. The price of popularity.

Cathedral Cove Walk

Cathedral Cove itself is beautiful and worth the walk there, although you can also take the Water Taxi as alternative.
We started our walk to Cathedral Cove from the Hahei town center, rather than taking the shuttle bus that drops off visitors closer to the cove. It's a very nice trail along Hahei beach, then through some forest area before descending to Cathedral Cove. The posted walking times are for the slower walkers, we cut them in half both ways.
