Guangdong (Chinese: 广东) is a province in South China, located on the South China Sea coast. Traditionally romanised as Kwangtung, Guangdong surpassed Henan and Sichuan to become the most populous province in China in January 2005, registering 79.1 million permanent residents and 31 million migrants who lived in the province for at least six months of the year; the total population was 104,303,132 in the 2010 census, accounting for 7.79 percent of Mainland China's population. This also makes it the most populous first-level administrative subdivision of any country outside the former British Raj, as its population is surpassed only by those of the Pakistani province of Punjab and the Indian states of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The provincial capital Guangzhou and economic hub Shenzhen are among the most populous and important cities in China. The population increase since the census has been modest, the province at 2015 had 108,500,000 people.

I went to Shenzhen Lianhuashan Park in December 2017. It was a beautiful park. You can take a taxi to the South entrance or you can take subway line 4 to the Shenzhen Book Mall (Children's Palace Station) and then walk. The park is very crowded but really a nice place. It is full of flowers and I am not sure of the right word but they have created animals out of plants. There is a nice lake. But the key thing to do is to climb up hundreds of steps to the top. It is tough but well worth the climb. At the top is a really large statue of Deng Xiaoping the leader who followed Chairman Mao and who started China's economic development in 1980. Near the Deng Xiaoping statue is a tremendous view of Shenzhen and the Futian Business District. The park is one of the most fun things to do in Shenzhen.

The Chimelong Safari, operated by the same company Chimelong, enjoys a great reputation. So we had high expectations when we planned a visit to the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom.
We traveled from the Macau side and the hotel transfer was underwhelming, with no clear directions and the shuttle bus from the immigration runs on an infrequent hourly basis.
We chose the Penguin Hotel. The rooms are big enough but the deco was quite tacky. The staff were professional enough, but the service was rather cold.
The theme park itself was very well run and quite enjoyable. The collection of marine animals was impressive. Although I have visited many Oceanariums all over the world - like in U.S., Japan and Hong Kong, Chimelong really aced them in terms of sheer numbers - whale sharks, belugas, dolphins, penguins, polar bear, walruses, sea lions, you name it. The Performances are also tightly packed so there was no shortage of entertainment. The rides are also plentiful and quite exciting.
Our biggest shock and disappointment was the extremely low quality of the catering standards. At a themepark or a resort hotel, no one expects fine dining or gourmet experience. Very often, hearty buffets and wholesome food will pass. But the food served at the Chimelong, particularly the Penguin Hotel, was simply atrocious. Noodles, barbeques, dim sums, sweet and sour pork, nothing was done right! For someone who grew up in Southern China, I couldn't accept a big tourism and hotel group cannot even find a decent group of chefs to serve in one of its most important resorts.
This was a big let down. The breakfast was so bad we decided to skip our 2nd visit to the theme park in the morning and crossed the border back to Macau.
I think the poor catering standards do not do justice to the quality of the theme park, nor to Chimelong' s reputation.
Until the food improves, I would recommend anyone interested in ocean life should visit the park early in the morning and avoid staying at the hotel. Pack your own food if you can!
If Chimelong wants this resort to supplement the product offering in Macau and build its reputation as China's leading tourism group, it really should get its act together.

Almost everyone will need to access this park via Shaoguan. In Shaoguan, go to the bus station next to East railway station. From the river, the bus that goes to DanXiaShan is on the right side. Busses leave about every 10 minutes and tickets are purchased on the bus for 16rmb. The trip is just over an hour to the park. Sit on the left side of the bus for views and to keep the rising sun out of your eyes. The bus drops you just steps from the ticket counter. You can hire a tour guide at the ticket counter too, not sure of their English proficiency.... It was posted entry used to be 200rmb per person and now it is 150. You can also buy a combo ticket to do the boat ride for 220rmb. Your ticket gets you access to the park for 2 days. Keep your ticket handy as it must be re-checked at the entrance to the big areas. You will scan your index finger and this will let you back in for the second day. Cable car ride gets you a great ride. It is 40rmb to the top, 65 for two-way, but if you want to see more sights, just get the one-way and hike down the mountain to see viewpoints, temples, and ancient tombs, etc. SKIP Pearl Pavillion. It is a hard, steep ascent to a structure that has no views due to overgrown vegetation. I saw one foreign tourist during my trip, but the park is mapped, explained, and has all street signs in English. Not recommended for young kids. It's too much walking, and some of the barriers would not stop a wandering toddler from falling down the mountain. Last bus back to Shauguan is at 7, but don't wait too long as many will already be full when they arrive to the park. I was on the 7:40am bus to DanXiaShan, and walked about 90% of the park by 4pm. I traveled solo and at a good pace. Also, only a couple of the service stands were open, so carry your water. You don't need to bring a buffet, but some light snacks would help between stands.

My friend and I were very impressed with Wutong mountain and the park itself. I've been to several Mountains in China and have experienced terrible litter, but this park was a refreshing change! We visited on a holiday, so it was busy, but we were still able to enjoy it. Will definitely go back to try other routes!
We stayed at a hotel near Laojie station and decided to take a taxi there and the bus back. The taxi cost us 50¥ even with bad traffic, but the bus was very easy to use getting back and of course much cheaper. We ended up getting off at the 2nd to last stop, Luo Hu Primary School, which was right near our hotel. If you're in a small group, i would recommend the bus as easy and very affordable.

Anywhere that has Pandas on show is a must-see for me and this property didn't disappoint. Spent most of the day here and took the Gondola ride over the park which was great. I am not a fan of shopping Malls but I am impressed with this Mall. For the architecture, the tenants mix & user-friendliness. It has everything for everyone. From young kids (the outdoor playground is awesome) to Adults. If you don't like shopping, opt to hole up at Sisyphe Bookstore (mostly Mandarin books, there is a foreign imported book section). So many good restaurants (Hey Tea's teas are fantastic!), shops with high quality local brands and imported Brands . It is not Super high end but neither is it Low end.
The mall changed my not-so-positive perception of Shenzhen! Am very proud of the chinese !!

This is a nice area to walk. There is a bit of everything- it’s like the downtown. There are modern buildings everywhere. Then the financial buildings surround the area with the tallest buildings. One can see the area of the Asia games and the view of the river. There are shopping malls as well. Nice to talk around

I came here specifically for the TeamLab Art Exhibition on a weekday. It was quiet and very nice to walk around. Plenty of restaurants, modern cafes, a huge shopping mall, Marriott Hotel, some decorations at the Bay reminds me a bit of Gardens By The Bay in Singapore. We did not stay for the night but heard that it is very beautifully lighted up. It’s a good place to visit in conjunction with an exhibition like TeamLab.

Like such cities as London, NY, Paris, & Vancouver, Guangzhou also has a Library that is absolutely amazing!! The first ( and most lasting) impression is the startling/dramatic architecture of the building. One can take a guided tour of the library-- and learn more about the importance of its collection to China's "emerging culture" (as compared to that existing during the "Cultural Revolution"). Well worth a visit!!.
