We've been coming here for decades and never had an issue until the last Independence Day weekend. In fact, I've written rave reviews for this park but not this time.
Within 30 minutes of our arrival, two park rangers came over to let me know that one of my truck tires was on the grass (by about 1 foot). No problem, I understood and immediately moved the truck fully onto the pavement.
The following day we had a group of more than a dozen adults and children camp next to us. They had three cars there at times and were well onto the grass. They also had six, yes 6 tents. It looked like a homeless tent city. They broke some branches off of a tree and used it for firewood. They strung up hammocks to the trees which also is not allowed. There were visitor cars parked in the overflow area and the passes had expired
We reported the issue to the park volunteer park personnel who reported that the rangers had gone to some meetings. The main office was closed much of the three day weekend, too.
Ultimately, nothing happened. We were all pretty disappointed about the inconsistent application of the park rules. I don't understand it other than perhaps it was because they talked in a foreign language and got a "pass" because of that.
I also wrote to the Washington state parks department and board and got one minor reply. So much for that action, too.

Unlike some lighthouses on the Washington and Oregon coast, the Grays Harbor Lighthouse is easily accessible. We have toured others and I am not a fan of heights, so we didn't climb to the top of this one. The tours are always very informative and views great so take advantage of their tour if you haven't previously been up in a lighthouse.

I have spent quite a bit if time here (& money). I like the new remodel & the new machines. Small casino with a very friendly staff. You can't plan on going home from a casino with money. You just have to plan what you can afford to lose for entertainment & have a good time. If you go home with more money than you came with then you are ahead of the game. Deli food in the casino is decent & very reasonably priced, drinks are decent though they are always out of Bacardi Light!! They are doing a good job for a small casino. Make it part of your drive out to the coast. They also own a nearby motel, nice clean rooms, nice staff & a great view!

What a beautiful place! I could hardly go inside for wandering around the gardens. There are various "theme" gardens, sculptures, "found" art work, large-scale outdoors chess set, little nook with table and chairs to play checkers, an arbor made of wine bottles with a sedum roof -- on and on. There are some nursery items for sale, and I particularly loved their pine/conifer selection. Inside, for $5, you can get a flight for wine tasting, with the $5 going towards any purchase. The cafe has a smallish menu but interesting selections. A tad on the pricey side, but it's such a beautriful venue! They, also, have weddings here. Just stop by. Well worth it.

We'd driven by this place a couple of times in the off season and decided this time that we'd make a detour to catch it during the summer. We were really really happy that we did.
So, we've never been to the big museum in Long Beach but I can tell you that this little place is second to none. First, the Furford family itself gives you the tour (contribution welcome but didn't seem to be mandatory). And even though we had no idea about the Furford cranberry machines before we went in, we were thoroughly impressed and honored that we got to see this place and meet the people who carry on the legacy.
First, a short video on the process of planting, tending, and harvesting cranberries. Then a tour of the exhibits - really really cool. Kids will be astonished so if you've got kids, bring them here. Lots of miscellaneous stuff from the history of the area and then, if you ask and are lucky, you might be able to see the machine shop where they repair the furford picker pruner. these are really neat machines.
Please go here because this is a wonderful little stopover. And leave a good contribution to keep them going.

Housed in a historic Coast Guard station, the museum exhibits highlight the local area. The whale bones outside are impressive. I loved being able to see the lighthouse lens from Destruction Island without having to climb to the top of a lighthouse. The docent turned on the light so that we could see the reflection on the walls. A great stop!

Was closed, but the outside displays were interesting. Especially with the provided information. Sad statistics on how many whales were killed by the local industry historically.

The Painted Pelican is a great little antique shop - very eclectic, with something for everyone and good prices to boot! I always find a "treasure" here! A little difficult to navigate in a wheelchair and the shop includes an upstairs - but the owner is very accommodating (even has offered to take pictures of the merchandise upstairs for me to peruse). Very pleasant shopping experience!

This campground could use some improvement for the nightly price. The tent sites are very small and occupy the edges of a swamp so are LOTS of mosquitos. The beach was a very long walk but worth it. I recommend a day tent at the beach to block sun and wind if you hanging out for the day.

The North Jetty is a great place to have a walk on the beach and see and feel the power of the ocean on a windy day....imagine kite flying would be spectacular too
