Cool, free educational environment with nice hands on activities for kids. The barge simulator was fun for kids, as a barge simulators go. Probably won't make the hour trip to go again, but once was worth it.

We picked Mission Ready from Groupon and were not disappointed!! It was a bit of a drive from downtown St. Louis but totally worth it :) Our family of 4 was in town for spring break (boys ages 12 & 15), and it was a blast! We all enjoyed the variety of terrain, the flexibility of our host (Tiffany!) and the top-notch gear! I would highly recommend this activity, and if we ever come back to St. Louis we will likely do this again :) Thanks!!!!

A must see. 12 miles from St. Louis. This is a different light display (with over a million lights and life size religious figures), being a religious Christmas winter wonderland of lights. You can "travel through time" from Bethlehem to Calvary. It's a drive in your car for a mile and a half trip or enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride. The event occurs Thanksgiving thru New Years Day. Admission is free, although donations at end of drive are appreciated. Volunteers put up and take down the lights. Those who take down lights get them free!

I came here in early August with my 5 year old daughter, and we had an absolute blast! We spent about 90 minutes exploring the visitors center, and walking around to see the different animals in their habitats. The gift shop is also very nice, and all proceeds go to support the animals treated there. I saw on their sign that they have cared for nearly 500 animals thus far this year, which is just awesome.

Stop by and check them out, they are awesome and are doing just great work!

Lewis & Clark State Historic Site & Interpretive Center

Reviewed By herestoadventures - Fishers, Indiana

I struggled with rating this.

Given an absence of funding, this interpretive center is being kept alive by volunteers. They're obviously doing a great job,and they're friendly and informed. I salute them.

The interpretive center includes a cut-away reconstruction of a keelboat, and it's fascinating to see it up close. I can't imagine how they pulled anything that heavy through the lower Missouri.

The film and the rest of the indoor exhibits are also well done. Gift shop has really good selection of books. For these reasons, I've given it a 4.

Now the truly sad part: the State of Illinois has not seen fit to maintain the reconstruction of the fort at Camp DuBois. It is in such a sad state of disrepair that visitors can no longer go inside if it. The exterior is festooned with "caution" tape, and 8-foot weeds can be seen growing inside.

Even the interpretive center itself needs a coat of paint.

What a missed opportunity. Given the importance of this site, one can only hope that Illinois funds its maintenance.

Came here with a group of co-workers for a "team-building" exercise. The guides were very capable and friendly. A few of the runs were longer than I expected and had terrific views, with top speeds approaching 40MPH. Definitely something to do if you are looking for something different.

We happen to pass by here and stopped for a quick visit. It is really cool to be able to compare how tall he was to your own height. My granddaughter was amazed at how tall he was. Really close parking and a quick little stop.
