This collection is beyond any small towns desires for beautiful art and culture. What a treasure located in hometown, USA. I love visiting with friends and family when they visit and also just to stop by for special exhibits when flying solo. The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom

Opening weekend, May 13 & 14! The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom has over 135 rides, shows & attractions, including a full outdoor water park. Featuring thrilling rides like Comet and the all-new Extreme Supernova as well as two children's areas - there is something for everyone!

Reviewed By Hokiechip - Roanoke, VA

We've visited Great Escape for the first time and were really disappointed. We are roller coaster enthusiasts and found that two of their five coasters were closed both days. The only thing that "salvaged" the trip was the ride crew on the Comet, who seemed to really enjoy their job and allowed us numerous repeat rides due to the low crowd. BTW, the Comet should not be missed - despite being 90 years old, the Comet delivers plenty of airtime without being very rough.

Our first day, we arrived late afternoon and found the park very difficult to navigate due to the combination of fog machines and lack of lighting. Perhaps that works great for the Halloween theme, but we became really frustrated on trying to find specific places.

Overall, I would have to rate this park this park very low - perhaps at the bottom in the theme parks that we have visited. Because of it's past history as Storyland, it does have lost of things for the little ones to do. If we were in the neighborhood, we would stop in try and ride the coasters we missed, but would not make a special trip to visit.

Cooper's Cave

Reviewed By ReddyBro

The portion dedicated to Coopers Cave is short with bits of info about James Fenimore Cooper's interaction with Glens Falls and the book he wrote Last of the Mohicans.
If you walk in the opposite direction after having visited the Cooper Cave section you can stay on an asphalt path along the canal that has many benches and nice vistas
across the canal. It's about 2 miles round trip from the South Glens Falls Historical Park. There are also other trails along the Feeder Trail but this section is nice for slow pace..young children or seniors. Some reviews are mistakenly referencing Coopers Cave Ale Company that is a bar not near this history site.

Feeder Canal Trail

Reviewed By apples0ranges - Saratoga Springs, New York

I have utilized this trail usually by bicycle multiple times over the years; the trail is quite flat most of the way except to the very end in HF by the Five Combines which is the original canal lock system (and is quite pretty) and further north in Queensbury along Glen Lake and Lake George. It is a non-motorized trail thus a lot safer than biking along a road and it is well maintained. We like it because it follows the old canal and has lots of shade and sometimes mallards swimming in the canal. Many people also walk the trail with their dog. I've biked by myself and have never had a problem. There are even 2 ice cream shops I can think of to stop at which is nice for those with kids. The trail is a positive thing for those who have easy access to it and it provides availability of a free and healthy outdoor activity to those who are visiting.

The only place to catch a play in Glens Falls, and they do a good job of it. Seating is nice, not a bad spot in the house, and the variety keeps it interesting. Downtown, so catching dinner before or afterwards is easy, and there's plenty of parking in the evening as well..

The Shirt Factory

The Shirt Factory was built in 1902 for the McMullen-Leavens Company as a shirt factory, the building was expanded in 1910 as production increased. In the 1930's the product line expanded into dress manufacturing. The shirt and dresses produced here were high quality fashion featured on the pages of publications like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Production continued here through 1996 when the factory closed its doors. In 1999 the current owner began a slow process of rehabilitating the building and breaking it up into rentable studio space. Over the years the space has grown and evolved. Visitors will find an eclectic mix of individuals calling the 70 plus studios here home, offering a wide range of goods, services, classes and more. The building is open daily 8am-5pm, individual studios set their own hours/availability, please check our website for studio hours. While here you will notice machines in the halls and dresses and shirts displayed in cases, these are from the original factory that operated here, for which the building is named. The first floor is our "designated retail area" all studios on this floor are open on Thur-Sat from 12pm-5pm, many studios on the other floors are also open at this time, making these ideal days to visit the building! The range offered by tenants is impressive! There is kung fu/martial arts/tai chi, yoga & zumba, loose leaf tea, baked goods, Himalayan salt lamps and Himalayan salt products, pottery, furniture, original artwork in a variety of forms and mediums, acupuncture, massage, vintage goods, a hair salon, yarn and fiber arts...You have to it experience to truly appreciate the variety. For an experience unlike any other, visit the building during an open house, especially the two that occur between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The owner allows the tenants to invite outside vendors in to set up in the halls, it is an amazing opportunity not only to shop local, but to find unique one of a kind gifts for yourself and everyone else on your list! On our website is a full directory with tenant descriptions, hours and contact information, as well as a calendar with upcoming events and classes to help you make the most of your visit!

The Shirt factory is a good place for artists who need studio space and want an opportunity to have it open to the public. That said, it's not the kind of place where a casual visitor could go and count on finding the trip worth their while. Each artist has their own schedule for being open and the layout of the building can be a bit confusing. If you're not going for a specific open house event or to see a specific artist(s) who you know will be open you may find the trip a waste of time.

We visited Lake George the week before Christmas and were pleased to find some of the museums were actually open year round. We chose Chapman Historical Museum and experienced a delightful visit. The woman behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. The exhibits were well presented and informative. There was even a place to hang our coats so we didn't have to carry or wear them while inside the museum. We loved the exhibit on The Chronicle (the local paper), its hometown pride quite evident. The home was beautifully decorated in a Scottish Christmas theme. Well done!

Davidson Brothers Brewing Company

Davidson Brothers Brewpub sits just north of the roundabout in downtown Glens Falls, New York. We’re open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. We're family-friendly, featuring an extensive kids' menu and a game room on our 2nd floor. We're also dog-friendly on our outdoor patio, which is open during warmer months, typically March through October. Most weekend nights we feature local musicians. We invite you to stop in sometime soon!

Davidsons was definitely worthy of a 3.5 rating. We arrived at 9:45 after a hockey game and were immediately told we would have to have our food order in the system before ten or be out of luck. That was weird but we obliged. After hustling to order food we were able to place drink orders. I was a little confused by this but we were hungry. Here is the great part. The food was sensational for the time of day. The Brewers Plate had a Beer Bacon Jam, two awesome cheeses, homemade bangers and perfectly toasted bread, a meal in itself. Buffalo Chips Sirachi style were very tasty and the burgers done just right. The service here was actually top notch and our server Nix? was awesome. As late as it was the manager did come out and greet us and apologized about a miscue. He comped us a round which these days is unheard of and made sure we were leaving happy. Great food and service without a doubt. They just need to tweak the systems and keep the kitchen going on a busy night. This place would be a 4 if we didn`t have to rush our order before we were even served drinks. I will go back.

urban asset for Glens Falls. Good for any age group..wide hard pack trails.
