Unfortunately the Church was closed when we visited so best to check opening times. It was still worth the visit just to see the surrounding area. People go just to drink the "holy" water, this area opens early morning until late at night. The outside walls of the Sanctuary are covered with spectacular pictures in mosaic.

The builder of the church is the person for whom Giulianova is named. If you like architecture, the construction of the dome and its octagonal enclosure, also reflected on the inside, is worth your time.

Museo Archeologico

My Cousin who lives in Guilianova took us here for the first time and she showed us all the wonders of this gorgeous and spiritual place. From the Mosaics inside and out that depict Christ's life to the healing waters that you can actually take with you or walk into. There is a Feast and festival in May to celebrate the Madonna. At Easter time they have the Stations of Cross that are outside and most of the town will follow the route that Christ took on his way to the cross. We have been back many times when we visit our relative in Guilianova. From the parking lot you can see most of the town of New Guilianova and the Sea with it's beautiful clean Beaches and Promenade, (by the My Family had a hand in building way back when.) In the evening all of the town seems to be walking the Promenade it's the meeting place for sure.

Chiesa di Santa Maria a Mare

Reviewed By reginedabruzzo - Milan, Lombardia, Italy
