Barossa Daimler Tours

From the moment you see your beautiful, gleaming, black Daimler arrive to collect you, you just know this day is going to be special. Have a brief chat with your guide, John Baldwin, about the wines you love, the wineries you have to see, where you have already been, and then leave it to this passionate local to personally tailor your tour just for you. These rare 1962 Daimlers can seat up to 8 persons when required, but it is really special to be the only two in the vast back seat of these historic vehicles (used in royal tours of the sixties). Premium wine tastings, sumptuous restaurant lunches with wine, afternoon tea at Maggie Beers Farm Shop are all included, plus free collection and return to your Barossa accommodation. John seems to know everyone, and he loves to share his local knowledge and close friendships which he has formed with the winemakers, with all who tour with him. You can visit the large iconic wineries such as Penfolds,Jacobs Creek and Seppeltsfield or be introduced to the smaller boutique wines at Torbreck, Rockford, Charles Melton and Charles Cimicky, to name a few. A Barossa tour begins at 10am and finishes at 5pm. Adelaide pickups are available (at extra cost) and begin at 9am and finish at 5.30pm. A modern 7 seat Mercedes is also available for tours to the Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale and is used for the Adelaide accommodation or Airport pickups.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting some beautiful vineyards with Lis on our shared tour (6 of us). It was loads of fun and she took us to some less commercial vineyards which we really enjoyed. With just a small group we got to 5 vineyards plus lunch (all included) and tasted many many local wines.
There was absolutely no pressure to purchase any...but who could resist? Lis was relaxed with a great sense of humour, which was lucky as she may have needed it with us. :).
Overall a memorable day and highly recommended.

My husband and I stopped by for some tasting.
The tasting menu was extensive and their Black Sash Shiraz was divine!
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a lovely time chit chatting while we did the tasting.
The view was wonderful. However, we didn't get a chance to sit outside due to weather.
We would highly recommend a visit.

We arrived via bikes to the winery and is was amazing ride to experience. The staff were so accommodation. We purchased a picnic basket and sat down by the creek bed. The produce and wine were excellent and perfect size for lunch. The staff also kept the goodies we got to keep, wine glasses, picnic blanket etc. until the next day when we had our car. The whole experience was lovely.

We loved the views over the surrounding farmland and vineyards and the character of the historic sheds that now serve as a tasting room and restaurant. The complimentary wine tasting presented by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable viticulture student was informative and enjoyable. The pies for lunch (one lamb and one chicken) were scrumptious and perfectly complemented by Pindarie wines. We had the choice of a verandah setting with views but chose air conditioned comfort inside. A nice coffee completed our meal. The whole experience was delightful thanks to the quality food and wines as well as the cheerful friendliness of Morgan who conducted the tasting and served in the restaurant.

Recently visited this winery to buy some wine for our children and have lunch. They also have a interesting array of Tea pot display and teas to purchase. But it was the lunch that made it for me, Barramundi in pastry, with pesto and sun dried tomatoes. It was so good that I forgot about the barra that I recently had in Darwin. I strongly recommend trying this meal if you ever have the chance of visiting this winery. The selection of wine is limited compared to the bigger wineries but the service is excellent and the choices are very good (I don't drink) so I was taking advice from our tour guide (my Aunt).
