Beaver Lake Nature Center

Wonder trails to walk or hike through the wood. You can rent a boat and paddle around the lake. They have educational information and hold some special events. I know in the winter you can cross country ski as well. There are picnic tables available as well.

Ontario Orchards

A unique farm market with fresh local produce, delicious baked goods from our on site bakery, cheeses, hard cider, craft brews, local honey, NY maple syrup, greenhouses, perennials, a living nursery, gifts and treats for the whole family. We have a wide variety of goods all in one place!

We took our daughter to SUNY Oswego and needed to waste some time while she was involved in activities. We stopped in at what appeared to be a produce stand but it was so much more! We found baked goods, local products like Canale's pasta sauce, snacks and candy, indoor and outdoor plants, gifts, dog treats and more. We were able to put a little gift bag together for our daughter that she truly enjoyed!

Vroman's Nose

Great little hike about 45 minutes west of Albany, NY. The hike takes you from a grassy parking area, up into the woods (a fairly steep climb), to cliffs overlooking the valley below. Great views--bring a picnic lunch and enjoy! The main trailhead for Vroman's Nose is a large grassy parking area off West Middleburgh Road. Reach West Middleburgh Road by taking NY 30 south out of Middleburgh. More information available at http://www.cnyhiking.com/VromansNose.htm

Fort Ontario State Historic Site

Thanks to Tripadvisor, we stopped here to visit and were not disappointed. We have seen many forts like this one and we enjoyed learning about Fort Ontario's history. They have done up many of the rooms with flair, adding some mannequins to give it life. Nice job. Nominal fee to get in. Worth the stop.

We took my grandson from Florida here on Aug.3, 2016 & purchased the Super ticket which included waterslides BUT!!! the water part was closed. They said come another day--well they were leaving for Fl the next day so this was useless!
We thought they should have given a partial refund at least! They do say no refund due to weather, but this was their grid problem-NOT WEATHER--false advertising!! GO ELSEWHERE!
SO sad since this area has not much to offer & this was shameful & disappointed little boy.

I had heard stories from my parents regarding the refugees being housed at Fort Ontario, but until my visit, I didn't know the exact extent of it all. Wow, just doesn't cover it.........very emotional and informative. If you visit Oswego, it's a must see! If you live in Oswego and haven't been there, what are you waiting for? You won't be sorry!

Frightmare Farms Escape the Estate

Reviewed By pookle1 - memphis, ny

The production value alone is worth the visit. The set design is movie level quality. There is the house, the labyrinth and a mine shaft, all high end design and stocked with what felt like dozens of actors trained to terrify you. I learned they start setting up in March, and start training the actors around June! This is a quality show.

Screamed my fool head off the entire time. Inventive, scary, well played, and sitting around after, watching the free movie on the big screen doesn't protect you from the wandering ghouls....

Highly recommend. This is a must see Halloween attraction.

Graduate here so we're both a little biased. But SUNY Oswego is situated in one of the prettiest campus sites in New York. Great place for a walk by the shore, especially during the spectacular sunsets. Beautiful place to visit.

Breitbeck Park

This is the place to go for a panoramic view of Lake Ontario and the Oswego Harbor. The iconic West Pierhead Lighthouse is right in the middle of the scene and there are paved trails for walking and skating, as well as benches for just enjoying the view. It's also the heart of the annual Harborfest festival.

H. Lee White Marine Museum

Reviewed By DZ07 - New York

The museum at the end of the pier is full of information you may not know about life on the water, and has a lot of interactive displays. There are several moored boats that you can tour with a guide.

There is a trip offered taking you out to the lighthouse. The trip is worth it because the views from the lighthouse are amazing, but it is a very disorganized process.
