Jewish Cemetery

Reviewed By Ellen C - Northborough, Massachusetts

I would not have expected the oldest Jewish cemetery in Europe in the heart of Germany, especially one that was undamaged by the ravages of the second World War, and is a quiet oasis quite near the city center. But Worms has surprised me. Explanatory signs in English are just inside the gates. One doesn't want to spend a lot of time here-the cemetery is just a little too overgrown and wild to be too comfortable, but one should come and pay their respects.

My grandma used to take me and my sister there when we were kids. I loved it. Haven't been there since then but I remember seeing birds that would talk, Flamingos, big birds, little ones, colourfull ones...

As there are not too much to see and do in Ludwigshafen, the city is not too attractive, but they have an excellent shopping mall, where you can find everything.

My favorite German Cathedral, even over the gorgeous Koln Cathedral, Worms is a massive edifice with soaring spires and towers, pretty stained glass and sculpture. Visit the crypt, were dignitaries from long ago are entombed, 1000+ years old.

Nice little park in the centre of Mannheim. Fountains weren’t on due to time of year but am told they are amazing in Summer. The water tower is impressive.

Katzinett - Katzenmuseum Ludwigshafen

Thousands of charming cats give an overview of the cat's history in everyday life and in art. Come and spend an unforgettable afternoon in the realm of our beloved velvet paws. The museum is open once a month on Sundays. Please check our website for dates. It is also possible to book a tour outside of these dates by appointment with phone or e-mail. Here are a few remarks to prevent misunderstandings: Sorry, the available rooms are not accessible to disabled guests. There are several steps to cope with and the walkways are cramped. Therefore it is unfortunately not possible to visit the exhibition with a baby carriage too. And please do not bring any other animals into the exhibition with regard to the Siamese lady of the house. Thank you for your understanding.

Bad thing is that they don't have anything in English. Very nice and friendly staff. I noticed that they are really giving information to German speaking visitors, unfortunately they don't speak English. I will post some photos so you can get idea how it looks
Good luck and bring dictionary
