Double Groove Brewing

Double Groove Brewing is a craft beer brewery and dog-friendly taproom. Enjoy a variety of beer on tap while we spin your choice of vinyl records. Come in and Chill, Taste, Listen. Definition of Double Groove: A rare intricacy whereby two grooves are cut into one side of a record, creating a random selection of tracks dependent on which groove the needle follows.

Double Groove Brewing Company has a clear theme from it's name, to the wall art and definitely to the turntable and record collection, and that is that good beer and vintage rock music vinyl go together. Those interested in the full story should check the website, but everyone should check the beers and music at the Forest Hill/Hickory site. Glad I persisted in my search of this small industrial area since my only previous visit had been to the vehicle emissions testing station down the street. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, with the latter being part of the parking lot commandeered as a beer garden. a signboard highlights the brews available of which there were 14 the day I visited. Lucky that it was a Wednesday since they are closed Monday and Tuesday. I decided on a flight of four IPAs in various shades of amber and intensity of bitterness. These included Gimme 3 Hops, American Dream IPA, Dirty White NEIPA, and Bang Your Hops. I would have stayed to have a full glass of American Dream IPA, but some customers came in without face masks, so I decided to get 3 cans to go. it was fun to watch the beer being canned with a clever machine on the spot. There are snacks like chips and cheese & crackers. Entertainment and a food truck are featured on the weekend, so I will return then and sit in the 'beer garden.'

Harford Vineyard and Winery

Reviewed By 703BillB703 - Bel Air, United States

The Harford Vineyard and Winery is in its 16th year, nestled in the rolling hills between Forest Hill and Jarrettsville. I had tried to find the place a few months ago after sampling their wines at the Bel Air Farmers’ Market, but drove right past as the signboard, while large, blends in with the scenery. This time, after reading that there would be live fireside music to accompany wine tasting, I made sure to use my map app to get there. We were not disappointed.  The tasting hall was well arranged, and several groups had already settled in to tasting, drinking and enjoying the cheese boards. The guitarist sang many standards and favorites, but had to compete with the guests who were enjoying their pre-holiday gathering and conversations. The tasting table offered a choice of six wines from among the 15 featured: three dry white wines, six dry reds and six sweet and semi-sweet wines. Our knowledgeable hostess explained the different grapes and processes, and we were happy to learn that grapes for three of the wines were grown on the property (one could see the vineyards right out the window), and most of the remaining came from grapes grown nearby.  Following the tasting, each of us chose a glass of our favorite and retired to a table next to the beautifully decorated wine themed Christmas Tree. We ordered a cheese board, and learned that this was produced at nearby at Daily Crisis Farm. In fact this winery is part of the Gunpowder Wine Trail consisting of four wineries, the dairy farm, an alpaca farm and a lumber company. During the autumn months they join together to offer special discounts to club members, and we bought the special t-shirts to remember our visit. Finally, in order to fully remember the visit, I bought a case containing two each of the wines I had tasted. Everyone on staff was friendly and informative. We look forward to going back to see the vineyard in its different seasons.
