Salto Ventoso

Not to difficult to find, exiting from the southern part of Farroupilha on rua Machadinho. A 10km drive on an unpaved but good road whith plenty of signs showing the direction. From the carpark, it is possible to see part of the waterfall from upstairs, but it worth going down the steep trail trough the well preserved woods, about a 15 minutes walk, till the middle part of the waterfall, where you can really admire it.
There is a small entrance fee.

Cave Geisse

This was the only sparkiling wine vineyard I went to during my trip to the Brazilian wine country and it was worth it. The place is beautiful. It´s not huge, so it´s quaint and really charming. The sparkiling wines are probably some of the best I´ve tasted in this region. They have about ten different kinds and it was nice to be able to see the difference between them in the tasting. The girls wh take you on the tour are delightful and the process is much more complicated and hard work than I had anticipated. I bought a box with six bottles of sorted wines and wish I could have bought more. This is a definite must on the list of vineyards to visit during your stay at the Vale dos Vinhedos.

A big church for a small town. Altars are carved white and gold. The interesting point is that birds nest behind the main altar, and make a fussy noise in spring. Unhappily trucks pass very near to reach a mill some blocks away and compromise the church walls.Money to solve the problem is expected from the government, but it won´t certainly come soon, with the crisis.

Parque dos Pinheiros

Reviewed By Jelmaff

Parque dos Pinheiros is a very nice park that is very close to downtown Farroupilha. For being so close to everything, it feels fairly quiet and secluded once you are inside. There is a little duck pond with a running/walking trail around it, and usually several ducks which are happy to eat any bread crumbs thrown their way. Some areas of the park have recently been or are currently being renovated, and once it is finished there will be brand new playground equipment for children to play on. They are also putting in at least one wheel chair swing. For grown-ups, there is also a separate outdoor exercise area with several pieces of work-out equipment. The park is open to the public, with no admission cost. The only downside I am aware of is overall safety in the park. While it has been cleaned up a lot over the years, it is still an open public place with little security. We do not spend much time there when it is mostly empty, and instead go either with a fairly large group or when there are several other families already there. Overall it is a great spot to get some fresh air and let the kids burn off energy.
