Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester

Established in 1873, Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, is the largest animal welfare organization helping pets and people in the Greater Rochester area. We encourage families of all ages to visit the shelter and our outdoor Farm Yard Petting Area and Walk, which offer educational displays to help people of all ages learn more about the many different animals for whom we care. Our campus also includes a network of Nature trails, and we are adjacent to Egypt Park that includes a pavilion and playground as well. Inside, visitors are welcome to visit the animals and shop in our gift shop. With a main campus located in Fairport and several other adoption centers throughout the community, the organization provides shelter, care, and adoption for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles, horses, and other farm animals. Other services available include Humane Law Enforcement, Dog Training, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Services, Pet Supplies and Gifts, Pet Assisted Therapy, Humane Education and Camps, and Behavior Advice. Lollypop Farm is an independent nonprofit organization supported entirely by contributions from the community.

In September a family friend passed and left behind 4 cats. None were socialized to anyone but her. It was a difficult situation, they needed to be caught before the house was sold and cleaned out. Lollypop Farms was fantastic, providing great advice on how to go about it, making a trap available, and even offering to pick them up. It took quite a while to capture the last one, but we did. I stopped in to check on them and learned all 4 had been adopted, with the bonded pair going to the same home. I couldnn't have asked for a better outcome to a sad situation.

We had a picnic at Center Park for our class reunion. It was clean, they have clean bathrooms and they allowed us to have a food truck to offer food for the families there. The park is fun for the kids and there is a huge field for any kind of game you can imagine.
