Kurdish Textile Museum

This museum is situated in the UNESCO world heritage site of the Citadel/Qalat, and is located in one of the heritage buildings. This museum is filled with displays of traditional Kurdish life and traditional Kurdish carpets and other materials. I learnt a lot when I first toured the museum, and I keep returning in order to purchase gifts to take to family and friends every time I fly out - the gift shop is downstairs and has a great selection of clothing, scarves, carpets, etc., all made by Kurds.

It was my first time to visit old Erbil in Kurdistan and I was impressed it reminds me old Cairo (Al Azhr, Al Husien,...) with it's coffee shops, restaurant, food and bazaars. Also Erbil Castle and the Fountain and the pigeon eating and flying around it was amazing. It's highly recommended fro visit if you like oriental atmosphere.

Majidi Mall

Reviewed By Jigac55

Average in size for Erbil, with the usual range of clothing and perfumes. Possible to have a very good cappuccino with chocolat cake in one of the so-called Italian café on ground floor. The two reasons why I shall return is the fresh fish stall at Carrefour offering a reasonable choice including bream, bass and salmon, the second being the new bottle store just by the parking. This shop is brand new and offers a good choice of wines well kept. Nothing special if you can visit the duty free shops on the road to Ainkawa and Diwan hôtel. What makes it attractive though is the very good choice of whiskies including a good selection of reasonably priced single malts, as well as the choice of brand cognacs, vodkas and champagne.
