This is an excellent way to see the bay around Eden. It is a large vessel and reasonably stable. The crew were marvellous. Our narration was exceptional. Afternoon tea is served. Basic but nice. You get to see all the bay plus hear it's history....MoreThank you for the lovely review Kevin. We are so pleased you enjoyed your cruise with us and would love to see you back during whale watching season.

Green Cape Lighthouse

Used the new 4 bed little bunkhouse ‘telegraph station’ for an overnight before starting the Light to Light walk. It’s affordable and well appointed with cooking facilities and bathroom. Loads of whales, wallabies, wombats and roos. The ranger gave us a lift to the start of the walk for $150 per couple then our car was waiting for us at the end of the 3 day picturesque walk. Walk is quite easy and camp sites well placed for distance. Fireplaces make evenings under the stars pleasant. Swims at secluded Beaches, wildflowers and not a soul other than us on the walk. Bliss!

The tower is about 30 mins south of Eden all on sealed road except last the 1 km. As it is part of a national park fees per vehicle apply ( pay via honesty system). It's a short flat walk to the tower from the car park 300m with a number of informational signs along the way explaining the history behind Ben Boyd , the tower and the whaling industry. There are also lovely views of the bay and Eden from the headland.

Would really recommend this excursion out of the lovely coastal town of Eden. Scott and Montana were friendly, informative and patient. All the required equipment including a wet suit was provided and the snorkelling location presented some interesting sights.
In a group of about 12 we snorkelled right off a beautiful beach in a bay that had plenty to offer. As we came to the end of our excursion Scott noticed a pod of dolphins had entered the bay which made our day.

Davidson Whaling Station

Reviewed By rodrigoelp - Sydney, Australia

The Davidson Whaling Station as named... it used to be a station in which whales used to be hunted and processed to extract whale oil used to make margarine, soaps and lubricants for lamps.
Eventually, that practice because unsustainable when the whale population because extremely endangered and other organisations/industries developed vegetable oil to replace this demand... (although now we are destroying entire Forests to just plant palms and extract palm oil...)
In any case... what do you expect to see here?
After a shot unsealed drive (most cars should have no problem to get here), you will find a gorgeous spot in which the Davidson set up their home and further down the three pots in which to process whales (just next to the bay). What remains nowadays of the whaling processing facilities is almost nothing. The view is pretty good nevertheless. If you have packed lunch you might be able to find a spot at the beach in which to sit down and enjoy the beautiful super clear waters, the bits of coral you can see from the shore and the sporadic visitor (a dolphin or two).
Other than that, that is all. The Davidson's house is a pretty rudimentary house, next to it is the house of the next owner (which I do not remember the name) that eventually decided to turn it into a reserve and historic place.
Hope you enjoy the visit :)

Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre

The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre is an exciting hands-on experience for everyone. Full of interesting, thought provoking marine displays and exhibits including Touch Tanks, Aquaria, Films and much more. During school holidays we have a number of exciting inddor and outdoor holiday activities for all ages such as our Rocky Shore Rambles and Guided Snorkel Tours. The centre is located in Eden but our programs and activities extend beyond the Bega Valley Shire, across the Victorian border, up into the Eurobodalla and Snowy Mountains and even into the ACT

Reviewed By Mark H

Centre has potential but is a little dated and unloved. You get the impression that the facility is run by well intentioned volunteers on a shoe string budget. Even so, the centre will keep the kids entertained for 1/2 hour. The aquarium at Merimbula has a larger variety of aquatic life so it's a bit better value. Hopefully the centre well get some major funding to modernise and upgrade the exhibits when the precinct development goes ahead.

Pulpit Rock

Reviewed By Swirls_and_Curls - Australia

Amazing lookout to spy the brilliant colours of the craggy coastline, simply breathtaking! Steps (steep but quite solid) lead from the lookout to the base – perfect for a closer view of this interesting landscape or to watch the rock fisherman.
The lookout itself is a short 3.0 km round detour from the main Green Cape Lighthouse road but is probably best tackled by those with higher ground clearance as there are some high spoon drains along the way. And keep an eye out as in sections the road turns a unique pink!
Lookout has a pit toilet but no other amenities.
In our opinion Pulpit Rock Lookout is definitely worth the detour.
