So don't miss this if you like a bit of social history. It's easy to find if you use google maps and the address on their website. There is no sophistication there. It's just a small tourist attraction. But getting a feel for how this small village built into the caves survived in 19th and early 20th century was pretty interesting. And it's really not so long ago but a world apart from how we live our lives now. Very good value for an absorbing visit (took us about 75 mins to get round it all)

Riserva Naturale Orientata Monte Cofano

Our walk around this park was marked by a beautiful blue sea on one side and an ashen desolate landscape on the other. The water view really defied description and from above the shore line was a mix of blue and green hues only to be found in nature. Fire had burn off much of the vegetation and this desert-like vista was in stark contrast to the rolling waves of the Mediterranean. The trail itself could be challenging. While not particularly steep, there were a few stretches of loose rock which made descending a little tricky. Likewise, in parts the path consisted of half-buried rocks and boulders that demanded your attention while walking and high-stepping to negotiate. However, when we finished the hike at the eastern end of the park, a refreshing swim in the gentle sea awaited us.

The bay is for most part a very rocky & tricky to walk on (trap-holes & sharp edges everywhere covered with algae but occasional patches of sand & blue sea if you pass the first 30m of shore) . Having spent 4 days in Trapani we chose this bay/beach to escape the folly crowds of more central Trapani . From that point of view baia cornino works just fine . I was molto "deluso" to see garbage scattered everywhere ... To all my Italian amici there are so many African jobless migrants who for a few euro would clean the beach with pleasure . Maybe sth to think of for local governance .

We were fortunate that we visited this lovely sanctuary....they were also celebrating their feast when we visited it is beautiful. A local recommend us to go and visit. It has a very particular design as in laying of tiles (pebbles actually) they are a wonder and nice inside too. The locals are very friendly too.

Baglio Cofano di Custonaci

Reviewed By johnllee

We were looking for a quiet B&B near the beach in northwest Sicily and found the family run Baglio Cofano whose husband is a world class chef. They are off of the beaten path and Google maps gets you within a quarter of a mile. Currently they have a half a dozen nice rooms with A/C and WiFi. They have a nice size dining room where we had a good breakfast with several outstanding dinners during our stay. During the summer they have an outdoor tent for beer, wine and grilled items.
All of the vegetables and meats were locally sourced and they had a good wine and beer selection. We had three to five course every night at a good value an reasonable price.
The photos are from one of our dinner meals.
The B&B is close to Segesta and the medieval town of Erica.
