This delightful vineyard looks a little understated from the road but you will love the grounds, the cellar and tasting areas, and especially the historic old bridge that crosses the small river, an offshoot of the Murray, out the back. Check out the delightful tortoises that abound in the river and care native to this site. Enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine at the tables and seats overlooking the river and on the bridge itself. The wines are varied and many are recognised award winners and indeed very, very good. The Pfeiffer family are around and we enjoyed a delightful hours chatting with them and staff plus tasting various wines - and buying some cases. Very good quality and a most enjoyable visit.

Corowa Whisky & Chocolate

Reviewed By Ingrid C - Melbourne, Australia

The Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory is an odd and underwhelming place to visit. The title is a complete misnomer. The space itself is lovely, it has a great function room and cute cafe and maybe that is what they should focus on and promote at this time until they are actually selling their whisky. I am very confused as to why this place is #1 of 8 places to visit in Corowa.
There are a number of issues that I had with this place:
1) There is no whisky that is produced at this factory that is able to be sampled. I understand that the owners are playing the long game, and that the whisky that has thus far been produced is unable to be sold as it is still being distilled, but it is nonetheless disappointing to not have whisky available on a whisky tour, in a whisky factory.
2) Better choice of, or significantly more training needs to go into the staff. I do not blame the poor boy who took our $5 tour, who has just finished school and has just come out. He did his best. However he has had little or no direction from the owners of the still about how a distillery works. He did not touch on the importance of the quality of the water source and promote the Murray as a pristine water source for a good quality spirit; he could not answer simple questions about where the barley was sourced (I was hoping locally and this was the answer but no region or town identified); and he did not understand the production process at all. He did not talk about the germination/malting process, what mash and a mash tun was, temperatures needed for germination and fermentation, what the distilling process does, why there are two stills and why it goes through the two. This is all simple enough for him to have looked up on Wikipedia, or the owners to have written out a flow chart and taken him through and involved him in the production process so he had  better understanding of it. As it was, although he knew a bit about the building, he was sorely lacking in knowledge about whisky. If you are to take people on a 'whisky tour' with no whisky at the end, I believe that at least the quality of the tour should be good with a sound knowledge base of the production process and at least a fleeting understanding of the chemistry of making alcohol.
The other issue with the tour is that only the function room was shown. This is where the stills, and some barrels were on display. None of the earlier part of the production process and where it is done was shown on the tour and the tour guide did not seem to realise that the still was the end of a much longer process which needed another space with more equipment.
3) The name "Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory" leads one to think that whisky and chocolate are being made on the premises. The only chocolate that is there is prepackaged from a parent company in Junee, 200kms away. This place also purports to be a chocolate 'factory', however all the chocolate is imported from Belgium (according to the boy taking the tour) and the only thing this 'factory' does is melt down Belgian chocolate and add some bits to it: coconut, liquorice, goji berries and the like.
I am sure in a few years that this place will have improved once they have a steady supply of whisky being bottled (another thing the tour guide was unsure of, where they would bottle) and improved tours, but for now, unless you're at a complete loose end, I'd give this a miss and spend some more time at the federation museum or relaxing along the river.

Wonderful winery. Beautiful setting with lots of shade and tables/chairs and grass for children to run. You can see all the oak barrels up close and meet Amelie the winery cat (who posed beautifully for photos). The staff were fantastic and took their time to allow visitors to taste as many wines as they wanted. A good choice or reds, whites and fortified wines. Well worth a visit.

Gallery 294

Reviewed By DiscerningDoyenne - Melbourne, Australia

Since it opened a number years ago, I've visited this gallery many times a year while holidaying in Corowa. It exhibits items from both professional and amateur local artists using different mediums and across a wide price range. I've always found something of interest to look at and contemplate.
In addition to the standard exhibit, there is a room featuring a 'visiting artist' plus a second room that features one of the gallery members exclusively. The types of things you might see here include paintings, felting, mosaic work, photography, handspun wool works, jewellery, hairpieces, sculptures etc.
One of the gallery members has always been on hand and I've found it worthwhile asking this person a bit about their membership and who is displaying what, which has given me an insight into the items on display. The staff have always been friendly and the relaxed atmosphere has meant that I've simply wandered around at my leisure
I always enjoy coming here and highly recommend this local attraction.

All Saints Winery and Cellar Door are steeped in history with its castle like building, rose Gardens and hedges. We visited on a Monday and we were the only people there. Our lady giving us the wine tasting was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. She also recommended us to some other wineries in the area. Restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesday. We managed to get a coffee and brownie at the cafe/gift shop. Worth the visit even if its just to admire the grandeur.
