Gan Gan Lookout

Not a long climb up a small hill - Australians will insist on calling these things a mountain - which it isn't. However, at the top the view is magnificent with very informative boards pointing out the many views in all directions. Well worth it for seeing the area spread out below you.

Tomaree Head

I never tire of the view from the top of Mount Tomaree. The walk is challenging, but the view makes it all worthwhile, with views back over Port Stephens; the coastal Beaches of Zenith, Wreck and Box; the Fingal Bay light house and the Islands off Port Stephens.

Faultless service from start to finish.
Mark and Brett were fabulous hosts and they are a real credit to the business.
The oysters that were served were the best oysters I have ever eaten.

Alicia and G were great with the kids (aged 6-10), however the ratio of instructors per child was far too high to provide appropriate assistance. They are apparently licensed for 1:8, but for kids this age, it probably should be much less for the kids to get something out of it.

There are three excellent eateries here and the views of the bay and environs are great. The location is West facing so this is a good spot for a "Sun Downer". It is really nice to walk around the pontoons looking at the fantastic yatchs...MoreThank you for your review of our beautiful marina, we love to hear customer feedback. We hope you visit us again soon. Many thanks Darrell and team.

It is maybe a km walk and climb up stairs to the lookout. The lookout from memory is 161 ft above sea level and offers an amazing view along the coast line and back inland over Nelson's Bay. Definitely worth the effort.

Bennetts Beach Hawks Nest

Reviewed By Brian T - Nambucca Heads, Australia

We accessed Bennetts Beach from the nearby caravan park and the 500 metre sandy track was an easy walk through a lovely Aussie forest. Accessing the beach involved trudging up and down a sand dune which was hard going for this overweight 75 year old. Still the beach itself is wild and relatively deserted with good clear water swimming conditions on the day we were there.

My partner and I booked this tour to see more of the PS area. An unforgettable adventure. Thanks Mick for a great tour!
We were out for four hours in total covering almost 28k. Passed by many beautiful Beaches, through local neighbourhoods and course even tackled the side of a mountain! I discovered I had a fear of going down hills, especially when covered with sand and rocks. Mick encouraged me to stay on the bike and I made it down with a smile. We then went through the national park and managed to see some local wildlife - iguanas and parrots!
The tour finished with coffee in an old lighthouse looking over the beautiful ocean side bays.
We were very impressed with the high quality equipment & felt the tour was great value for money. We will be back next time we are in port Stephens.

Port Stephens Shell Museum

Reviewed By dalton1skiing - London

We were looking forward to seeing this museum, but each time we visited, it was closed. The website says this its open 9-5, but we tried 3x over 2 days between those times. Its a private home, so I'm sure they need to go out time to time, but the sign to say its actually closed is very small on the door (see pics). It would have been helpful if it said when it would re-open so we didn't waste multiple vists.

Fingal Bay Beach

Reviewed By sunday9987 - Brisbane, Australia

This is one of the loveliest Beaches in the Port Stephens area. At the most, it is 10 minutes drive from the Nelson Bay CBD.
Access to the spit to Fingal Island ONLY AT LOW TIDE is also from this beach.
There are no shops around the beach, just residential houses so bring your own food and drink. There is a public restroom block in one of the parks nearby.
The sand here is soft. It can also be windy here.
This is also a patrolled beach at certain times of the day.
Definitely worth a visit. and don't forget to bring your camera.
