Celaya is a city and its surrounding municipality in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, located in the southeast quadrant of the state. It is the third most populous city in the state, with a 2005 census population of 310,413. The municipality for which the city serves as municipal seat, had a population of 415,869. The city is located in the geographic center of the municipality, which has an areal extent of 553.18 km² (213.58 sq mi) and includes many smaller outlying communities, the largest of which are San Miguel Octopan, Rincón de Tamayo and San Juan de la Vega.

The temple of El Carmen is a catholic church built in the neoclassical style, from 1802 to 1807, in just 5 years, by the renowned architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, since a previous church was burned. Is one of the top neoclassical churches in all of Mexico, in terms of beauty, proportions and size. Located in the downtown, the best idea is walking around since the area is safe and nice.

If you are close to the area of La Alameda garden, after a warm and sunny day, this is a good recommendation, the park is a block size, not so small and not so large, you can walk around and enjoy a fresh area surrounded by trees and nice views, there is a side offering popular mexican ice creams and treats, and a lot of mexican street food, not so nice looking. It seems to be safe in general, and a lot of people walking during daytime but keeping an eye to the people around is a good advice.

In small park like location. Next to pretty church, visited it as it was adjacent to it. Interesting pictures belonging to family that paid for its construction.

The main square of Celaya, where the government takes place. Is a nice-calm garden with generous trees where you can sit and enjoy the day without been exposed too much to the sun. There is plenty of space for sitting and a lot of traditional-mexican street food available. At the government building, you can see paintings of the local artist Octavio Ocampo, and if you have little kids you can try the curious little eletric train. Fair illumination at night but not much to do, although some weekends there are public local events.

Celaya's eight room Regional History Museum provides a quick overview of the region's rich history and a focus on Celaya you won't find elsewhere. Enough visuals, that I'd recommend a visit, even if you don't read Spanish.
Celaya is so completely overshadowed by neighboring colonial jewels San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, that it is a little hard to get an overview. For this reason, I'd recommend a visit. It's a little tired, a little stuffy, but helpful. And, even if everything is new and you do a bunch of Reading, you can sweep through in less than an hour.

Les recomiendo mucho este lugar y aprender un poco sobre la historia de este hermoso templo que disfrute mucho. Su nombre deriva Gracias a sus iniciadores Los Frailes Franciscanos que iniciaron con un pequeño templo que despues fue modificada por el arquitecto Francisco Tresguerras terminando esta bella obra de arte arquitectonico en el año de 1728. El templo fungio como Seminario y mas adelante se adopto como Universidad. En lo alto de la torre de 3 niveles se localizan las campanas la Purísima Concepción y el Santísimo Sacramento, al frente centro un reloj que sigue funcionando desde el año de 1910 hasta la fecha.

The shopping center is located toward the East of Celaya, is the newest, nicest and largest shopping center in the area. You can find a good variety of clothing, accesories, department stores and retailers such as Liverpool, Sears, Sfera, Zara, Gap, shoe stores, a Cinepolis movie theater complex, and a nice food court in a clean, well designed space, under a family friendly atmosphere.

Creada por el Arquitecto Celayense Francisco Tresguerras originalmente para el rey de españa Carlos IV y quien años después modifico la columna para festejar la independencia pero tambien cambio la cabeza del aguila argumentando que -El águila que es el símbolo de nuestra Independencia, no debe ver las barbaridades que cometen nuestros munícipes- años mas tarde la columna se movio a la Calzada de la Independencia y se cambio el ahuila de cantera por una de metal que sigue vigente en la actualidad

Realmente quedé maravillado el primer día que visitamos Xochipilli, es tomar un pedazo de tranquilidad y ponerlo en medio de bulevares y vías de tren, acceso $3 en general, cuenta con lago en donde puedes rentar una lancha de pedal por $35 por 30 minutos, tiempo que disfrutas conviviendo con los patos, un poco más al fondo encontraras juegos mecánicos para niños, remarco para niños ya que no encontrarás algo demasiado adrenalínico, pero sí carros chocones, el dragón que se mueve tipo pendulo, caballitos, variedad de carruseles, un poco más al fondo existe un área de Golfito $20, brincolín, también hay una sección de casitas con puentes colgantes para niños, área de resbaladillas y sube y baja, cuentan con un laberinto de cetos, ideal para chicos y grandes, si gustas de la naturaleza debes poner atención a la sección que está ubicada casi al frente del parque un poco a la izquierda, ya que encontraras una variedad de arboles, plantas y cactus.
Cabe aclarar que no todas las atracciones son con costo.
Debemos hablar ahora de la otra sección diseñada para los deportistas, pues bueno, sólo tienes que cruzar la calle y pagar de nuevo el acceso, esta sección tiene canchas de todo tipo, pista de caminata y otras actividades deportivas, también cuenta con un zoológico pequeño en donde tienen avestruces, las cuales son las mascotas y emblemas del parque,
Debo aclarar que debes tener cuidado a que sección quieres ir, ya que son dos muy diferentes y el acceso de uno al otro es un poco lejano, el área infantil tiene el acceso sobre el bulevar principal, la zona deportiva, es en la otra manzana.
Reitero que es nuestro lugar favorito en Celaya.

El edificio en sí tiene mucha historia. Hay oficinas y algunas actividades culturales ahí o en el edificio aledaño; suelen ser interesantes para los que tienen ese gusto. No sé si aún tengan la biblioteca (no la vi en mi última visita).
