Once a resting place for traveling pilgrims, Cattolica was also a favorite spot of Lucien Bonaparte, younger brother of Napoleon.

Nice beach with pool, animators and many other services. The sand is probably the best kind there is. There might be too many people there for somebody's taste - the beach gets quite crowded with about 800 seats spanning just about a hundred meters.

friendly staff & great entertainment for adults & kids.
Clean & cozy. The only minus, for me at least, was the extra payment to use the very crowed swimming pool, which we never used, as we had one for free at the hotel.
But the rest its just perfect for family holiday (especially with small kids)

La Playa Beach Village

Reviewed By alanmsq - Great Bowden, United Kingdom

We have used La Playa Beach Village all this week while staying at the Luxor Beach hotel, having prebooked the hotel's 'beach package'. The facilities are excellent, with two pristine swimming pools, lots of play equipment for children, table tennis, boules etc. Allocated sunbeds and umbrellas were ours for the duration of our stay. Everything is spotlessly clean - the paths are swept and the sand raked each morning in preparation for the day. There's even free wifi on the beach if you need to stay connected. The beach itself is fine sand sloping down to clear water. Pedaloes and other boats are available for hire and a sailing boat offered trips from the beach. An ice cream and drinks seller regularly toured the beach with his cart. The only slight negative was the number of hawkers selling everything from umbrellas to massages - but ignoring them or a polite no thanks does the trick. Anyone who thinks the Italian way of organising a beach is rather regimented (as I once did), might be surprised to find it's actually a very civilised way to holiday. Bravo La Playa Beach!

Fontana Delle Sirene

As part of my bicycle tour across Cattolica and Gabicce Mare I passed this nice round "square" with the Fountain of sirenes, also called "Mermaid Fountain". On the outside are water spouting turtles. The Fountain, that includes three curvaceous mermaids or “sirene” sensually enveloped in cloths, was created in 1928 by the sculptor from Forli, Giuseppe Casalini who used his nineteen-year-old daughter Francesca as a model.
