Thoughtfully, lovingly curated museum around the corner from Canton's Tourism Center at the Trollio Hotel. The museum, housed in a modest space contains an amazing amount of Canton, MS and US history. Here are the audio/video recordings and archival documents of Canton's African American community leaders, their stories told in their own voices including but not limited to their struggle for civil rights and justice. There are also a few collections of artifacts, art and photos from other highly regarded individuals and their families who contributed to the cultural and community life of Canton, hence representing the "multi" cultural aspect of the museum's offerings. But if like myself you are interested in learning more about a small MS town's history particularly before and during the Civil Rights Era from the 50's and 60's, as told by its African American community leaders, both women and men, then come here and spend a couple of hours at this museum. It is a gift to all of us- those who have lived and worked in Canton and those of us who find our way to this special MS town.
